Day 01 Chennai

On arrival you will be met by a representative of Kamalan Travels at the airport who will accompany you to the hotel and will assist with check-in formalities. You will receive a traditional Indian welcome.

Day 02 Chennai – Mahabalipuram ( 60 Kms - 1 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you will head to Mahabalipuram. On your way you will visit Kanchipuram, which is known for being the city of a 1000 temples. It is also the home of the widely acclaimed Kanchipuram hand woven silk sarees.

On arrival you will have the evening to relax and unwind before turning in for the night.

Day 03 Mahabalipuram

After breakfast, you will explore Mahabalipuram. Here you will visit the Arjuna’s Penance, a huge bas-relief monolith depicting the Mahabharata dating back to the 7th Century.

You will also visit the Five Rathnas, five shrines that have been designated World Hertiage sites. Each of the shrines is a monolith carved out of pink granite and named after the five Pandava brothers from the Mahabharata. Next comes a visit to the Shore Temple. Overlooking the Bay of Bengal, the Shore Temples is also a world heritage site. Built in the 8th century, the Shore Temple is a fine example of a structural temple built from granite.

Day 04 Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry ( 100 Kms - 2 Hrs 30 min )

After breakfast you will leave for Pondicherry, after check-in you will visit the Aurobindo Ashram. Founded in 1926 by Shri Aurobindo, the Aurobindo Ashram is a large institution that has various publications and charitable benefits to the area and that attracts thousands of visitors. The teachings of Shri Aurobindo continue to find followers and influence thought both in India and the west.

To get a real taste of Pondicherry, you will take a rickshaw ride through the Tamil and French colonies and local markets. Then you will return to hotel.

Overnight at Hotel Maison Perumal, which is a cameo experience. A celebration in miniature, of a way of life that few even know exists.

Day 05 Pondicherry – Tanjore ( 220 Kms - 6 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Tanjore.

En route, you will visit Chidambaram is known for the famous Natrajan temple, one of the most ancient temples in the region. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of the cosmic dancer. Spread over forty acres, people of all faiths are welcome to visit the shrine.

On arrival, you will check in to your hotel. Afterwards, you will visit Brihadeswara Temple. This is one of the most celebrated Hindu temple’s and a world heritage site. Next you will visit the Tanjore Gallery. You will see a variety of art from the Tanjore School.

You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 06 Tanjore – Karaikudi ( 100 Kms - 2 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you will leave for Karalkudi. You will check in to your hotel. Afterwards, you will visit of a village in Chettinad and the local temples to appreciate the local culture and architecture.

You will then return to your hotel.

Overnight at Hotel Visalam which is a very nice and well maintaining property, even though not so large, with a nice pool and a little garden to relax their clients .

Day 07 Karaikudi – Madurai ( 100 Kms - 2 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Madurai. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel. Afterwards, you will visit the Tirumalai Nayak Palace. King Tirumalai Nayak built this unique palace with the help of an Italian architect. The building was started circa 1620 and blends Dravidian, Islamic and European styles.

Next comes a visit to the Meenakshi Amman temple. This temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati, has 14 elaborately sculpted pillars. The temple is believed to have been built in the 1600’s.

You will return to your hotel.

Day 08 Madurai – Munnar ( 170 Kms - 5 Hrs )

This morning, after breakfast, you will drive through the beautiful landscapes towards Munnar.

You will arrive and check in to the hotel. Afterwards you will visit the tea plantations nearby. Tea lovers will be particularly fascinated by the various stages of tea processing.

You will return to your hotel.

Day 09 Munnar

After breakfast, you will have the day at leisure to explore the scenic beauty of the tea gardens.

Day 10 Munnar – Cochin ( 150 Kms - 4 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you will leave for Cochin. You will check in to your hotel. In the evening you will witness a Kathakali dance show, which involves the stunning use of masks, and make up.

Overnight at Hotel Casino which is the groups oldest property, dating to 1957, when it catered to a clientele of rough sailors coming off the ships in the harbour.

Day 11 Cochin

After breakfast, you will explore the city of Cochin. You will visit Fort Cochin with its wealth of colonial architecture. The extraordinary Chinese fishing nets are a sight to behold. These unusual, elegantly balanced, shore operated fishnets are 10m high and rumored to be of Chinese origin, possibly introduced by Zhang He.

The Jewish synagogue in Cochin was built in 1568 and is of great historical importance. No visit to Cochin is complete without viewing its attractive collections.

You will also visit the Mattancherry or Dutch Palace. It was constructed by the Portuguese and gifted to the Raja of Kochi in 1555. It was created in the traditional style of architecture with a courtyard in the centre. It houses some of the finest murals of Hindu temple art.

You will return to your hotel and the evening at leisure to relax. You will spend the night at hotel Casino.

Day 12 Cochin – Komarakom ( 65 Kms - 1 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you will leave for Komarakom. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel. Afterwards, you will have leisure time to enjoy the amenities at the hotel such as massage therapies and yoga.

Overnight at Hotel Coconut Lagoon. This heritage hotel offers various accommodation facilities to cater to the different needs of the tourists. The most important part is the variety that is available at the Coconut Lagoon, Kumarakom

Day 13 Komarakom

After breakfast, you will leave for the backwaters of Kerala. You will spend the day on cruise and have lunch on board. You will return to spend the night at Hotel Coconut Lagoon.

Day 14 Komarakom – Trivandrum ( 60 Kms - 1 Hrs )

After Breakfast, you will head to Trivandrum to catch your return flight.
