Day 1 Delhi

On arrival, you Kamalan representative will meet you at the airport, accompany you to your hotel. You will then spend the night at your hotel after check-in formalities are completed.

Day-02 Delhi/Leh

After breakfast at your hotel, you will leave for your flight to Leh, which was once the capital of the Himalayan kingdom of Ladakh. It is a place of breathtaking natural beauty and was an important stop over on the trade routes in the Indus Valley.

On arrival, you will check into your hotel. You will spend the rest of the day resting to acclimatize to the altitude. You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 03 Leh

This morning you will leave to visit Leh Palace. Though now in ruins, the Leh Palace was modeled on the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. Next you will visit the Shanti Stupa. This beautiful structure was inaugurated in 1985 to commemorate 2500 years of Buddhism and to promote world peace. Afterwards, you will visit the Sankar Monastery. This monastery belongs to the Gelukpa sect and is famous for its image of Avalokitesvara depicted with 1,000 arms and 11 heads. You will also visit the colorful Leh market before returning to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 04 Leh “Visit of Spituk & Pheyang”

This morning, you will have breakfast and then leave for Phyang. The Phyang Gompa belongs to the Red Hat sect of Buddhism and also has an 800 year old museum.

En route, you will visit the Spituk Gompa. This Gompa dates back to the 11th century. You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 05 Leh “Visit of Shey, Matho Gonpa & Stok Palace”

This morning, you will have breakfast and leave to visit the Shey monastery. This was once the royal residence and the seat of power. The monastery has large and unique statues of the Buddha.

Next you will visit the Matho Gompa. This is the only Gompa in Ladakh of the Saskya order and has a number of sacred shrines. Afterwards, you will visit the Stok Gompa. The Stok Gompa dates back to the 14th century and has its own library. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 06 Leh-Hemis “Via Thiksey”

After breakfast, you will visit the Hemis monastery. It was constructed in 1630 and is the largest monastery in the region. The monastery is managed by the Drukpa sect of Buddhists.

En route you will visit the Thiksey monastery. One of the finest examples of Ladakhi architecture, this 12-storey monastery contains numerous statues, wall paintings and sacred shrines.

You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 07 Hemis-Chogdo

This morning, you will have breakfast and trek to Chogdo from where you will have beautiful views of the surroundings. On arrival in Chogdo you will set up camp and spend the night here.

Day 08 Chogdo –Kongmaru La

After breakfast, you will trek to the base of the Kongmaru La. Apart from breathtaking views and some spectacular photo opportunities; you may also spot some blue sheep! You will spend the night at your campsite.

Day 09 Kongmaru La – Kang Yatze

This morning, you will have breakfast and leave on your trek to the base of Kang Yatze. You will head over Kongmaru La through the plains of Nimaling and see some amazing views of the Kang Yatze peaks. You will spend the night at your camp site.

Day 10 Kang Yatze Peak

After breakfast, you will trek close to the peak of Kang Yatze which will take approximately eleven hours. You will spend the night at your campsite.

Day 11 Kang Yatze Peak – Langtang Chu

This morning, you will have breakfast and head to Langtang Chu. On arrival, you will set up camp and spend the night here.

Day 12 Langtang Chu – Sokra

This morning, after breakfast, you will climb to the top of Zalung Karpo La and enjoy the bird’s eye views of the Kharnak region. You will then head to the peaceful meadow of Sokra. You will spend the night at your camp.

Day 13 Sokra – Kharnak 3 hrs:

This morning, you will head to Kharnak which has a fort looming over it and willow groves nearby. This is considered an auspicious spot. You will spend the night at your camp.

Day 14 Kharnak – Dat ( 5 hrs ):

Today, you will trek to Dat. Here you will reach a semi-permanent settlement and camp near the village. Here you will visit the Gelugpa Gompa and spend the night

Day 15 Dat – Lungmoche

This morning you will trek to Lungmoche. En route you may spot herds of the Tibetan wild ass. This trek has incredible views. You will spend the night at your camp.

Day 16 Lungmoche – Zhabuk

Today you will trek to Zhabuk, one of the most beautiful campsites. En route you will see some spectacular wind-carved rocks. You will spend the night at your campsite.

Day 17 Zhabuk – Zara Chu “River”

After breakfast, you will trek to Zara Chu through some exciting river crossings. On arrival you will set up camp where you will spend the night.

Day 18 Zara Chu River – Maranga La

After breakfast, you will trek to Marang La. The views from this pass go all the way to the Great Himalayas. You will spend the night at your camp.

Day 19 Maranga La – Darcha

After breakfast, you will trek to Darcha, which has a village and a road where it is easy to find jeeps to Manali. You will spend the night at your camp.

Day 20 Darcha – Manali

This morning, you will have breakfast and head to Manali by jeep, which will take approximately four hours. You will spend the night at a hotel here.

Day 21 Manali

After breakfast, you will visit the Nagar Castle. This is a fine example of timber-bonded building of the Western Himlayas.

Next you will visit the Hadimba Temple. This is a four storied wooden temple built in the pagoda style in 1533.

You will also visit the Tibetan monastery, famous for its Tibetan handicrafts. Afterwards, you will visit the Bashist springs. These sulphurous hot water springs are situated among views of the sweeping valleys.

You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 22 Manali – Kullu - Delhi

This morning you will have breakfast, and head to the Kullu airport to board your flight to Delhi. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and spend the night.

Day 23 Delhi

After breakfast, you will explore Delhi. You begin with a visit to the Jama Masjid. The Jama Masjid is the largest and perhaps the best-known mosques in India. Commissioned by emperor Shah Jahan, and completed in 1656, the courtyard of the mosque can hold about 25,000 worshippers.

Next you will visit the Red Fort from outside. Also constructed under the emperor Shah Jahan, this fort also served as the residence for the Mughal royal family. The British later used it as a military camp. It continues to be significant even today, as every Independence Day, the Prime Minister raises the flag here. You will also enjoy a memorable rickshaw ride through the narrow lanes of Old Delhi.

You will see the government buildings in Delhi. They are an ode to British Colonial architecture, spearheaded by the architect Edward Lutyens.

You will also explore India Gate, one of the largest war memorials in India. Designed by Edward Lutyens, it commemorates the thousands of soldiers that lost their lives during the First World War. This monument is an important landmark in Delhi, with many important roads leading off the Gate. In the evenings, India Gate is lit up and you will find many families enjoying their free time near by.

After lunch in the city, you will visit Humayun’s tomb. Commissioned by Humayun’s wife Hamida Banu Begum in 1562, it was the first garden tomb built in the Indian sub-continent. The Persian architect used red sandstone on a large scale and this UNESCO world heritage site represented a huge leap for Mughal architecture.

After dinner, you will head to the airport. Your Kamalan representative will help you board your flight home.

EXTENSION AGRA

Day 24 Delhi – Agra ( 204 Kms - 5 Hrs )

This morning you will have breakfast and leave for Agra.

The city of Agra is believed to have been founded in 1504 by Sultan Sikander Lodi. The city flourished under Mughal rule and is most famous as the home of the Taj Mahal and other fine examples of Mughal architecture. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel.

After lunch in the city, you will leave to visit Itimad Ud Daulah. This is a mausoleum commissioned by the Mughal Empress Nur jehan for her father. It is believed to be the blue print of the Taj Mahal and is said to resemble a jewel in a marble box.

You will then return to your hotel and have the evening at leisure and spend the night at your hotel.

Day 25 Agra – Delhi ( 204 Kms - 5 Hrs )

Early this morning, you will visit the Taj Mahal. Considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World, this gem of a monument defies description. The Taj Mahal is actually a mausoleum, commissioned by Enperor Shah Jahan in loving memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Construction of this marble wonder began in 1632 and was completed around 1653. Thousands of laborers were employed to construct the monument, that is replete with decorate inlays, carvings and calligraphy. To this very day, the Taj is considered an architectural marvel.

You will return to your hotel for breakfast and afterwards you will visit the Agra Fort. This is a 16th century Mughal fortress built of red sandstone and comprises of many fairy tale palaces.

Next you will leave for Delhi. Here you will have lunch in the city and have some time to explore Delhi on your own. After dinner, you will head to the airport to catch your return flight.

EXTENSION JAIPUR & AGRA

Day 24 Delhi – Jaipur ( 240 Kms - 5 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Jaipur.

Also called the ‘Pink City’, Jaipur is the city of royalty. Filled with palaces and forts, Jaipur is the perfect place for visitors to get a glimpse into Rajasthan and its culture.

On arrival, you will check into your hotel. Afterwards, you will visit Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds, a popular landmark in Jaipur. Made of pink sand stone, the façade is almost pyramid shaped and adorned with latticework. In the evening, you will have some time to explore the local bazaar before returning to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 25 Jaipur

After breakfast, you will visit the Amber Fort. Bordering the Maota Lake, this beautiful citadel merges both Hindu and Mughal style of architecture. The greatest way to explore the fort is to ride up to it on an elephant!

Afterwards you will visit the City Palace. The City Palace is in fact a palace complex built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. Many of the rooms have been turned into museums and galleries allowing visitors to catch a glimpse of Rathasthan’s regal past.

After lunch in the city, you will then get to explore the Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory dating back to around 1730. You will return to your hotel and have some time to relax before turning in for the night.

Day 26 Jaipur – Agra ( 240 Kms - 5 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Agra.

EXTENSION AMRITSAR

Day 24 Delhi - Amritsar

This morning, you will either have breakfast at your hotel or carry a packed breakfast and board your train to Amritsar. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and have lunch. Afterwards, you will explore the city of Amritsar.

You will begin with a visit to the Golden Temple. This is the most significant temple for the Sikh community. The ‘langar’ or community kitchen serves free meals all year round to roughly 40,000 visitors a day. It is truly a remarkable experience to visit this place of worship.

You will then visit the Wagah Border. The Wagah border is India’s only road crossing border with neighboring Pakistan. It is a ceremonial border, where every evening, the guards from both countries perform the ‘lowering of the flags’. This moving ceremony attracts many tourists on either side of the border.

Next you will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 25 Amritsar - Delhi

After breakfast at your hotel, you will visit the Jallianwala Bagh. This small park was the site of a massacre in 1919 spearheaded by a British general. This event caused general unrest and agitations and was one of the precursors to India’s struggle for freedom.

Next you will visit the Durgiana temple. Dedicated to the Goddess Durga, this temple is based on the architecture of the Golden Temple. You will then visit Rambagh, the palace and gardens of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The summer palace has now been converted into a museum holding weapons and portraits.

You will also visit Khalsa College, a historic educational institute. Next comes a visit toe the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum. The museum houses old coins, manuscripts, arms and armour.

Afterwards, you will take the train or a flight back to Delhi. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel where you will spend the night.

Day 26 Delhi

After breakfast, you will visit the Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, the most prominent Sikh Temple in Delhi. It has a brilliant golden dome that makes the structure instantly recognizable. Built in 1783, the temple attracts millions of visitors annually.

You will then visit the National Museum, which houses artifacts dating back 5000 years. Afterwards, you will visit the Birla temple or Laxminarayan Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the Hindu trinity.

After lunch in the city you will have some time to explore the city on your own.

Later you will return to your hotel. Your Kamalan representative will accompany you to the airport to help you check in so you can board your flight home.

EXTENSION GOA

Day 24 Delhi/Goa

After breakfast, you will head to the airport to catch your flight to Goa. Located on the western coast of India, Goa is the smallest India state. Known for its fantastic beaches and historical churches, Goa still exhibits its history as a Portuguese colony.

On arrival, you will check in to the hotel and have lunch. Later, you will head to explore the Goan churches and cathedrals. You will start with a visit to the Se Cathedral. Consecrated in 1640, the cathedral is dedicated to Catherine of Alexandria.

Next you visit the Church of St Francis Xavier. Goans are deeply devoted to St Francis Xavier, and though the church has only one altar, this church offers visitors simple sanctity.

St. Catherine’s Church stands out as a pale yellow structure with distinctly Renaissance features. The Archaeological Survey of India now protects the church.

You will also see the Viceroy’s Arch. The arch was built as a memorial to Vasco De Gama and stands on the jetty of Old Goa. It is said that every Viceroy had to pass through this arch before taking office.

The Miramar beach is a beautiful golden beach with soft sand, and dotted with palm trees. With its captivating views, it is an ideal location for lovely long walks along the shore.

Explore the Dona Paula fishing village that was named after Dona Paula de Menezes, the wife o a nobleman who died as a young woman. These days it famous for water sports as much as being a lover’s paradise.

You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 25 & 26 Goa

For the next two days you can explore the magnificent beaches of Goa. The many fine sand beaches in Goa have something to offer everyone. Whether it is quiet relaxation, busy flea markets, bars and parties or local cuisine... Goa’s beaches have it all.

Day 27 Goa - Delhi

After breakfast, you will board your flight to Delhi. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and explore the city. You begin with a visit to the Jama Masjid. EXTENSION VARANASI

Day 24 Delhi - Varanasi

After breakfast, you will head to the airport to catch a flight to Varanasi.

The ancient city of Varanasi on the banks of the River Ganges is considered the holiest city for Hindu pilgrims. Hindus believe that bathing in the Ganges at Varanasi will remit their sins. It is also considered a holy city for Buddhists, believed to have been designated a pilgrimage site by Gautama Buddha himself. A city of temples, art, literature and education, the atmosphere in Varanasi is completely unique. On arrival, you will check into your hotel.

In the evening, you will witness the prayer ceremony that is performed amidst pealing bells and hundreds of pilgrims. The sunset ceremony is truly a sight to behold!

You will then return to your hotel to spend the night

Day 25 Varanasi

Early this morning you will leave for a boat ride on the Ganges. This enthralling experience will allow you to witness people offering their prayers, professional washer men doing the laundry as well people waking up to do their daily chores.

You will return to your hotel and have breakfast. In the afternoon you will head to Sarnath for an excursion. Sarnath is a holy pilgrimage site for Buddhists. It is the site of the deer park where Gautama Buddha taught his Dharma (faith) and is also an important centre for the arts. You will also visit the Sarnath Museum.

You will have dinner and spend the night at your hotel.

Day 26 Varanasi - Delhi

After breakfast, you will have some free time to relax or explore the city on your own. You will then catch your flight to Delhi. On arrival, you will have some free time to explore Delhi on your own before heading to the airport to catch your return flight.
