Day 01 Bangalore
On arrival, your Kamalan representative will pick you up, accompany you to your hotel and help you check in. You will spend the night here.
Day 02 Bangalore - Mysore ( 160 Kms - 4 Hrs )
This morning, you will have breakfast and leave for Mysore. Here you will check in to your hotel and have lunch.
Afterwards, you will visit the Chamundi Hills. The Chamundi Hills offer a panoramic view of the region and a long stairway of 1511 steps leads to the top of the hill. Though it is an effort to climb to the top, the view is most definitely worth it!
You will also visit the Bull temple and Mysore Palace. This spectacular building was commissioned in 1897 but was only complete in 1912. Every year it plays host to the annual Mysore Dasara festival.
You will return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.
Day 03 Mysore – Medikeri ( 120 Kms - 3 Hrs 30 )
After an early breakfast, you will leave for Medikeri, a charming and picturesque town situated at an altitude of 5,000 feet above sea level.
En route, you will visit Srirangapatnam, a place of great religious and historical significance. In fact, it is the site of the infamous battle between Tipu Sultan and the British army. Tipu died in battle within the fort of Srirangaptnam and the place where he fell has been turned into a memorial.
On arrival, you will check in to your hotel. In the afternoon, you wil visit Medikeri Fort, which was the scene of many fierce battles in the 19th century.
Next you will visit the Raja Seat, where the kings used to sit to enjoy the views of the sunsets. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.
Day 04 Medikeri – Hassan ( 115 Kms - 3 Hrs 30 )
After breakfast, you will leave for an excursion to Bylakuppe, a Tibetan settlement west of Mysore. In the afternoon, you will leave for Hassan, a city that dates back to the 11th century. Here you will check in to your hotel and spend the night.
Day 05 Hassan – Belur - Halebid – Hassan ( One way: 50 Kms - 1 Hrs )
After breakfast, you will visit Belur. This is temple town that is particularly renowned for the Hoysala temple complex. You will visit the Chennakeshava Temple, dedicated to the Hindu God Vishnu.
Next you will visit Halebid. This is another temple town famed for its Hoysala architecture. Most temples in both towns were made of steatite. The artistic accomplishments of the sculptors were so great that they actually left signatures on their work. The sculptors often left a small blank space on a pillar as a challenge to anyone who had the talent to fill them in. However, they remain blank even today.
Later you will visit the Hoysaleswara temple, renowned for its exquisite architecture. You will return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.
Day 06 Hassan – Hospet ( 350 Kms - 7 Hrs )
After breakfast, you will leave for Hospet, where you will check in to your hotel, have dinner and spend the night.
Day 07 Hospet
This morning, you will explore Hospet. The region has always been important because of its proximity to the ruins near Hampi. Today Hospet is an important site for iron-ore mining. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.
Day 08 Hospet - Pattadakal - Aihole – Badami – Hubli ( 260 Kms - 5 Hrs )
This morning, you will drive to Hubli, an ancient city now famous for textiles and trade. Enroute you will visit the Aihole temple comples and the town of Pattadakal, famous for its monuments dating back to the 8th century. Built under the patronage of the Chalukyan Dynasty, the monuments display both the north Indian Nagara and southern Dravidian styles of architecture.
Next you will visit the Badami Caves. The Badami Cave Temples are brilliant example of Indian rock-cut architecture. Carved out of soft sandstone in the late 6th century, the caves represent different religious sects. You will have dinner and spend the night at your hotel.
Day 09 Hubli – Goa ( 300 Kms - 6 Hrs )
Located on the western coast of India, Goa is the smallest India state. Known for its fantastic beaches and historical churches, Goa still exhibits its history as a Portuguese colony. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and have lunch.
Afterwards, you will explore the Goan churches and cathedrals. Here you will check in to your hotel and have the day at leisure. You will have dinner and spend the night at your hotel.
Day 10 Goa
This morning, you will start with a visit to the Se Cathedral. Consecrated in 1640, the cathedral is dedicated to Catherine of Alexandria. You will also see the Viceroy’s Arch. The arch was built as a memorial to Vasco De Gama and stands on the jetty of Old Goa. It is said that every Viceroy had to pass through this arch before taking office.
You will have the afternoon to relax. You will have dinner and spend the night at your hotel.
Day 11 Goa
Today, you can explore the magnificent beaches of Goa. The many fine sand beaches in Goa have something to offer everyone. Whether it is quiet relaxation, busy flea markets, bars and parties or local cuisine, Goa’s beaches have it all.
Day 12 Goa - Mumbai
Today, you will have breakfast and head to the airport to board your flight to your next destination.
EXTENSION NASHIK
Day 12 Goa - Mumbai
This morning, you will have breakfast and board your flight to Mumbai. Here you will have lunch in the city and visit the Gateway of India. This monument, located on the waterfront in South Mumbai, was erected to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911. The monument was completed in 1924. The monument was meant to be the first sight for all visitors coming to Bombay by boat. You will also visit Chowpatty beach, a popular attraction for locals and tourists alike. People of all ages come here seeking fun and relaxation. It is dotted with kiosks and stalls of local street food.
The Prince of Wales Museum was founded in 1922 by prominent citizens of Mumbai. Divided primarily into 3 sections – art, archaeology and natural history, it houses more than 50,000 artifacts.
You will return to your hotel to spend the night.
Day 13 Mumbai – Nashik ( 185 Kms - 5 Hrs )
This morning, you will leave for Nashik after breakfast. You will have lunch and in the evening visit Ramkund. Ramkund is an important spot for pilgrims as it is believed that Lord Ram bathed here while in exile. It is a lively place with markets nearby.
You will also have the opportunity to visit some temples in Nashik. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.
Day 14 Nashik
After breakfast, you will visit the Sula Vineyards. Rajeev Samant started this young vineyard in the late 90’s, after quitting his job in the Silicon Valley. Since then, Sula wines have grown in popularity and considered to be India’s finest wines. The vienyards now cover approximately 1500 acres of plantations.
You will have the day to tour the vineyards and visit the picturesque Tasting Rooms at the vineyard that has panoramic views of the surrounding hills. The vineyards also have a beautifully landscaped amphitheatre that hosts a variety of events. The vineyard also has a charming restaurant ‘Little Italy’ that’s offers visitors a unique dining experience.
You will have the evening at leisure and spend the night at your hotel.
Day 15 Nashik – Mumbai
After breakfast, you will take the train back to Mumbai. On arrival, you will have lunch and have some time to explore the city on your own. You will have a room to wash, change and rest before heading to the airport to board your flight home.
EXTENSION JAIPUR & AGRA :
Day 12 Goa - Jaipur
After breakfast, you will take a flight to Jaipur. Also called the ‘Pink City’, Jaipur is the city of royalty. Filled with palaces and forts, Jaipur is the perfect place for visitors to get a glimpse into Rajasthan and its culture. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel.
Day 13 Jaipur
After breakfast, you will visit the Amber Fort. Bordering the Maota Lake, this beautiful citadel merges both Hindu and Mughal style of architecture. The greatest way to explore the fort is to ride up to it on an elephant! Next you will visit the City Palace. The City Palace is in fact a palace complex built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. Many of the rooms have been turned into museums and galleries allowing visitors to catch a glimpse of Rathasthan’s regal past.
You will visit Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds is a popular landmark in Jaipur. Made of pink sand stone, the façade is almost pyramid shaped and adorned with latticework.
After lunch in the city, you will then get to explore the Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory dating back to around 1730.
Next you will take a rickshaw ride through the area before returning to your hotel to spend the night. You will return to your hotel to spend the nught.
Day 14 Jaipur - Agra ( 240 Kms - 5 Hrs )
After breakfast, you will leave for Agra. The city of Agra is believed to have been founded in 1504 by Sultan Sikander Lodi. The city flourished under Mughal rule and is most famous as the home of the Taj Mahal and other fine examples of Mughal architecture. Here you will check in to your hotel.
After lunch, you will you will visit Itimad Ud Daulah. This is a mausoleum commissioned by the Mughal Empress Nur jehan for her father. It is believed to be the blue print of the Taj Mahal and is said to resemble a jewel in a marble box.
You will return to your hotel and have some time to relax before turning in for the night.
Day 15 Agra - Delhi ( 204 Kms - 5 Hrs )
After breakfast, you will visit the Taj Mahal.
Considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World, this gem of a monument defies description. The Taj Mahal is actually a mausoleum, commissioned by Enperor Shah Jahan in loving memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Construction of this marble wonder began in 1632 and was completed around 1653. Thousands of laborers were employed to construct the monument, that is replete with decorate inlays, carvings and calligraphy. To this very day, the Taj is considered an architectural marvel.
You will also visit the Agra Fort. This is a 16th century Mughal fortress built of red sandstone and comprises of many fairy tale palaces.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will leave for Delhi.
After lunch in the city, you will visit the Qutab Minar. This is the tallest brick minaret in the world, commissioned by Qutbuddin Aibak, the first Muslim ruler of Delhi. His successors continued to enhance the structure, with the final storey added in 1386.
The next stop is Humayun’s tomb. Commissioned by Humayun’s wife Hamida Banu Begum in 1562, it was the first garden tomb built in the Indian sub-continent. The Persian architect used red sandstone on a large scale and this UNESCO world heritage site represented a huge leap for Mughal architecture. You will also get a chance to see the government buildings in Delhi. The government buildings in Delhi are an ode to British Colonial architecture, spearheaded by the architect Edward Lutyens.
You will also explore India Gate, one of the largest war memorials in India. Designed by Edward Lutyens, it commemorates the thousands of soldiers that lost their lives during the First World War. This monument is an important landmark in Delhi, with many important roads leading off the Gate. In the evenings, India Gate is lit up and you will find many families enjoying their free time near by.
Later, you will head to the airport to board your flight home.
INSERTION GOKARNA
Day 09 Hubli – Gokarna ( 175 Kms - 4 Hrs )
Today, you will head to Swaswara. This idyllic retreat lies in the state of Karnataka, on 26 acres of rolling hills. You will spend the next few days enjoying the variety of therapies on offer here. You will learn about yoga and meditation, and learn how to respond to the needs of your body and mind.
You will also enjoy the benefits of Ayurveda and its traditional healing therapies. The cuisine at SwaSwara features the freshest fruits, vegetable and seafood and is created around your treatments at the retreat.
Day 10 till Day 13 Gokarna
You can rejuvenate by practicing there extensive Yoga, Pranayama and meditation facilities, with individual attention from qualified yoga teachers
Day 14 Gokarna – Goa ( 200 Kms - 5 Hrs )
After breakfast, you will leave for Goa, where you will check in to your hotel. You will have the day at leisure before turning in for the night.
