Day 01 Cochin

On arrival you will be met by a representative of Kamalan Travels at the airport who will accompany you to the hotel and will assist with check-in formalities.

After lunch, you will explore Cochin. You will visit Fort Cochin with its wealth of colonial architecture.

The extraordinary Chinese fishing nets are a sight to behold. These unusual, elegantly balanced, shore operated fishnets are 10m high and rumored to be of Chinese origin, possibly introduced by Zhang He.

A visit to the St Francis Church is also important, since it is the oldest European church in India built in 1503. Vasco de Gama was originally buried here, before he was moved to Lisbon.

You will also visit the Mattancherry or Dutch Palace. It was constructed by the Portuguese and gifted to the Raja of Kochi in 1555. It was created in the traditional style of architecture with a courtyard in the centre. It houses some of the finest murals of Hindu temple art

The Jewish synagogue in Cochin was built in 1568 and is of great historical importance. No visit to Cochin is complete without viewing its attractive collections. You will visit a local spice market before heading to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 02 Cochin – Guruwayur ( 100 Kms - 2 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you will leave for Guruvayoor. Here you will check in to your hotel and have lunch. Afterwards, you will leave to visit the elephant yard. This sanctuary houses adult elephants that are trained for the local temple.

You will also visit the famous Guruvayoor Kshethram Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna before returning to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 03 Guruwayur – Calicut ( 130 Kms - 3 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will drive to Calicut. This city was once the capital of Kerala and an important center in the trade of spices.

On arrival, you will check in to your hotel. You have the afternoon free to explore the city before returning to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 04 Calicut – Mahe ( 60 Kms - 1 Hrs 30 ) & Mahe – Tellicherry

This morning, you will have breakfast and head to Tellicherry. Tellicherry, on the Malabar Coast, is known as the city of crocket and circuses. It is believed that Indians first played cricket here and that Tellicherry was also the birthplace of the Indian circus.

En route you will visit Mahe town. This quaint town was a French colony until the 50’s and reflects both Indian and French heritage.

On arrival, you will check in to your hotel in Tellicherry. You will have the day at leisure to explore the area on foot. In the evening, you will enjoy a performance of Kalaripayttu,which is perhaps one of the oldest forms of martial arts in existence and includes grappling, wrestling, kicks and weaponry. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 05 Tellicherry – Wayanad ( 100 Kms - 3 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast you will drive to Wayanad. The Wayanad area is set high on the Western Ghats, and is called the Land of the Paddy fields. It is known for its abundant natural beauty and the local population includes indigenous tribals.

Here, you will check in to your hotel. After lunch, you can relax at your hotel or enjoy a nature walk in the area. You may also visit a coffee plantation near by. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 06 Wayanad

This morning you will visit the Begur Wildlife Sanctuary.

The sanctuary is covered with lush green trees and is home to a variety of birds, elephants, tigers, leopards, boars and other species. Next you will head to the Eddkal caves. The caves are situated on an ancient trade route between Mysore and the Malabar Coast. It contains carvings that suggest that they were created by civilized prehistoric people. In the evening, you will return to your hotel and spend the night.

Day 07 Wayanad – Coonor ( 120 Kms - 4 Hrs )

This morning, you will have breakfast and drive to Coonoor and have lunch en route. Coonoor is beautiful hillstation in the Nilgiri hills and is surrounded by lush plantations.

Before you arrive in Coonoor, you will take a jeep safari in the Mudumalai Sanctuary. The Mudumalai sanctuary is a favorite with wildlife enthusiasts. With a wide range of animals and birds, the sanctuary has flat lands, grasslands, swamps and valleys.

On arrival in Coonoor, you will check in to your hotel where you will spend the night.

Day 08 Coonor

This morning you will have breakfast and leave for Ooty. Ooty, short for Ootacamund, is a popular hill resort in south India. Situated in the striking Nilgiri hills, the weather is pleasant all year round, which is why it always a popular destination with tourists.

Here you will visit the Botanical Gardens that were laid out in 1847. Covering over 22 hectares, there are over 650 species of plants and trees. It also houses the fossil of a tree that is believed to be 20 million years old.

You will also visit picturesque Thottabettu. You will have lunch in Ooty and afterwards take the toy train to Connoor. This heritage train runs at the highest elevations in Southern India and has been operational since the early 1900’s.

You will have dinner and spend the night at your hotel in Coonoor.

Day 09 Coonor – Cochin ( 300 Kms - 7 Hrs )

This morning, you will have breakfast and drive to Cochin, one of the principal sea ports in the country. You will have lunch en route, and check in to your hotel on arrival. You will spend the night here.

Day 10 Cochin

Today you will be free to discvover the city by yourself, relax.

In the evening, you will witness a traditional Kathakali dance, which involves the stunning use of masks, and make up. You will return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 11 Cochin

After breakfast, you will head to the airport to board your flight home.

EXTENTION MUNNAR & PERIYAR
Day 11 Cochin - Munnar ( 140 Kms - 4 Hrs )

This morning, after breakfast, you will drive through the beautiful landscapes towards Munnar.

You will arrive and check in to the hotel. After lunch you will visit the tea museum in Munnar. The Tea Museum at Munnar depicts the journey and efforts of the pioneers to helped make this region into a major tea plantation centre. Tea lovers will be particularly fascinated by the various stages of tea processing. You will also visit a local market and soak up the local flavors.

You will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 12 Munnar - Periyar ( 110 Kms - 2 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you will drive to Periyar and visit the lush tea gardens en route. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and have lunch.

In the evening, you will have some leisure time to enjoy an Ayurvedic massage or enjoy a performance of Kalaripayttu, which is perhaps one of the oldest forms of martial arts in existence and includes grappling, wrestling, kicks and weaponry.

You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 13 Periyar – Cochin ( 202 Kms - 5 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Cochin. Here you will check in to your hotel and have lunch. You will then have some free time to do some shopping in the local markets. After dinner, you will head to the airport to catch your return flight.

EXTENTION LAKSHWADEEP
Day 11 Cochin - Agatti ~ Bangaram

After breakfast, you will be taken to the Cochin airport to catch a connecting flight to Agatti. Here, a representative from the Bangaram Island will help you board your motorboat that will take you to the island. Between July and September, you can reach the island by helicopter as well.

Day 12 & 13 Bangaram Island

You can spend the next couple of days exploring the magnificent Bangaram Island, which has pristine silver sand beaches, breathtaking blue lagoons, coral reefs, and coconut palms. You can also engage in a variety of water sports such as snorkeling and scuba diving. Bangaram Island is also an ideal place to enjoy deep sea fishing.

Day 14 Bangaram ~ Agatti - Cochin

Post breakfast you will head back to Agatti by boat to catch your connecting flight to Cochin. After checking into the hotel Cochin you may have lunch. Then you can explore the local bazaar and a walk through the Jewish quarter is a wonderful experience.

You will then return to your hotel for dinner. You can wash and change to prepare for your flight home. Your Kamalan representative will be there to assist you to board you flight.

EXTENTION MARARIKULAM
Day 11 Cochin - Allepey ~ Houseboat- Mararikulam

After breakfast, you will drive to Alleppey. Here you will board a houseboat fro a day cruise on the backwaters of Kerala with lunch on board. You will disembark at Alleppey and drive to to Marari. Marari offers a glimpse into traditional fishing villages with vast expanses of pristine beaches. Full of local charm, this area makes an idyllic holiday spot.

On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and spend the night.

Day 12 Mararikulam

Today you can spend time on the beautiful beaches. You can also try and Ayurvedic treatments and massages and visit the town and local temple.

You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 13 Mararikulam – Cochin ( 53 Kms - 1 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast at your hotel you will have the morning to relax. Then you will drive to Cochin airport to board your flight home.
