Day 01 Mumbai

On arrival, you will be met by a representative of Kamalan Travels at the airport who will accompany you to your hotel and help you check in. You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 02 Mumbai – Nashik ( 185 Kms - 4 Hrs )

This morning, you will leave for Nashik after breakfast. You will have lunch and in the evening visit Ramkund. Ramkund is an important spot for pilgrims as it is believed that Lord Ram bathed here while in exile. It is a lively place with markets nearby. You will also have the opportunity to visit some temples in Nashik.

You will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 03 Nashik

After breakfast, you will visit the Sula Vineyards. Rajeev Samant started this young vineyard in the late 90’s, after quitting his job in the Silicon Valley. Since then, Sula wines have grown in popularity and considered to be India’s finest wines. The vienyards now cover approximately 1500 acres of plantations.

You will have the day to tour the vineyards and visit the picturesque Tasting Rooms at the vineyard that has panoramic views of the surrounding hills. The vineyards also have a beautifully landscaped amphitheatre that hosts a variety of events and a charming restaurant ‘Little Italy’ that’s offers visitors a unique dining experience.

You will have the evening at leisure and spend the night at your hotel.

Day 04 Nashik – Pune ( 200 Kms - 5 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Pune which is the second largest city in the state of Maharashtra and is considered the cultural capital of the state. It has a vibrant atmosphere with many places to eat, drink and shop.

On arrival, you will check in to your hotel. After lunch, you will visit the Osho Auditorium which is part of a lush meditation resort, with a relaxation atmosphere to regain the mind-body-spirit connection. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 05 Pune - Bangalore - Coorg ( 250 Kms - 5 Hrs )

Early this morning, you will have breakfast and leave for the airport to catch your flight to Bangalore. On arrival, you will head to Coorg and have lunch en route.

Coorg is considered the Scotland of India, with its breathtaking landscapes, lush forests and acres of plantations.

On arrival, you will check into your hotel. You will have the evening to relax before turning in for the night.

Day 06 Coorg

After breakfast, you will visit the Dubare elephant camp. Here you will observe elephants and their daily activities. You can also take a ride on one of the elephants here!

Afterwards, you will have lunch with a Kodava family trying out authentic Kodava cuisine. The Kodavas are an ethnic group from the state of Karnataka. Their staple food consists of boiled rice, pork, meat, with coconut and rice noodles.

In the evening, you will visit the local spice plantations. The region is famous for cultivation of spices and visiting the plantations is a memorable experience.

Later you will enjoy a wonderful camp fire before turning in for the night.

Day 07 Coorg – Telicherry ( 110 Kms - 3 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will check into your home stay. After lunch, you can interact with the family members and find out about the local way of life. You will spend the night here.

Day 08 Telicherry

After breakfast, you will visit a ‘beedi’ (locally rolled cigarette) factory, which are the best in the industry. You will also have time to enjoy the local beach.

You will then enjoy special Mappila cuisine and take a cooking class learning to prepare authentic dishes. The cuisine is wholesome and spicy with rice as a common staple.

In the evening, you will witness the traditional Theyyam dance in a local temple at Tellicherry after which you will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 09 Telicherry - Calicut ( 70 Kms - 2 Hrs )

After breakfast you will head to Calicut. You will visit Mahe town. This quaint town was a French colony until the 50’s and reflects both Indian and French heritage.

You will also visit Kappad beach where Vasco de Gama is said to have first arrive from Europe. On arrival, you will check into your hotel and enjoy a vegetarian lunch. Many communities in India do not eat meat at all, and therefore the vegetarian dishes are equally imaginative and tasty!

In the evening, you may enjoy an Ayurvedic massage to relax before spending the night at your hotel.

Day 10 Calicut - Palakkad ( 140 Kms - 4 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will stay with a family and learn about the local food and customs. You will have the evening free to relax and explore the area, before turning in for the night.

Day 11 Palakkad

After breakfast, you will visit Kalpathi. The region of Kalpathi is also known as the ‘Varanasi of the South’. You will visit the famous Vishwanatha Swamy temple. This temple is famous for its annual temple festival.

You will have lunch in a traditional Brahmin house. Brahmins are strictly vegetarian and their food is usually simple. You will also have a special non-vegetarian meal with a Christian family. You gain a better understanding of the richness of local cuisines and communities that co-exist in the region. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 12 Palakkada – Coimbatore - Mumbai

After breakfast, you will leave for Coimbatore to board our flight to Mumbai.

EXTENSION GOA
Day 11 Coimbatore - Mumbai - Goa

After breakfast, you will head to the airport to board your flight to Goa.

Located on the western coast of India, Goa is the smallest India state. Known for its fantastic beaches and historical churches, Goa still exhibits its history as a Portuguese colony.

On arrival, your Kamalan representative will accompany you to your hotel and help you check in. You will have the evening free to relax before spending the night at your hotel.

Day 12 Goa

After breakfast, you will visit the Church of St Francis of Assisi. This church, originally built around 1551, by a group of Franciscan friars, was later demolished. The present church was built in 1661. After the Portuguese closed the convent in 1835, it fell into a state of disrepair. In 1964, the Archaeological Survey of India resurrected the church, and it now also houses a museum.

You will also get a chance to visit Fort Aguada, built in 1612 by the Portuguese. You will also get a chance to explore some of old Portuguese houses in the area.

After lunch in the city, you will have some time to relax at the hotel or the beach. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 13 Goa

After breakfast, you will have some time to enjoy the beaches of Goa or spend some leisure time at your hotel. You may also choose to take a tour of a local plantation. You will return to your hotel to spend the night

Day 14 Goa - Mumbai

In the afternoon, you wil head to the airport to catch your flight to Mumbai. On arrival, you will check into your hotel to wash and change. You will then head to the airport to board your flight home.

EXTENSION MAHABALIPURAM - PONDICHERY
Day 11 Coimbatore - Chennai - Mahabalipuram

After your arrival in Chennai, you will head to Mahabalipuram. On your way there you will visit Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram is known for being the city of a 1000 temples. It is also the home of the widely acclaimed Kanchipuram hand woven silk sarees.

You will have lunch here before making your way to your hotel. You will have the evening to relax and unwind before turning in for the night.

Day 12 Mahabalipuram – Pondichery ( 100 Kms - 2 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you will explore Mahabalipuram. Here you will visit the Arjuna’s Penance, a huge bas-relief monolith depicting the Mahabharata dating back to the 7th Century.

You will also visit the Five Rathnas, five shrines that have been designated World Hertiage sites. Each of the shrines is a monolith carved out of pink granite and named after the five Pandava brothers from the Mahabharata.

Next comes a visit to the Shore Temple. Overlooking the Bay of Bengal, the Shore Temples is also a world heritage site. Built in the 8th century, the Shore Temple is a fine example of a structural temple built from granite.

You will have lunch at a local restaurant in Pondicherry and check into your hotel. After an evening free to walk around the city you will then spend the night at your hotel.

Day 13 Pondichery

After breakfast, you will explore Pondicherry. You will visit the Aurobindo Ashram. Founded in 1926 by Shri Aurobindo, the Aurobindo Ashram is a large institution that has various publications and charitable benefits to the area and that attracts thousands of visitors. The teachings of Shri Aurobindo continue to find followers and influence thought both in India and the west.

Next you will visit the Manakula Vinayak Temple, which was built before 1666- before the French came to Pondicherry. Though many attempts to were made to destroy the temple and to prevent worship, they did not succeed and the temple still stands today.

A visit to the Pondicherry museum will reveal fantastic sculptures, art and handicrafts.

To get a real taste of Pondicherry, you will take a rickshaw ride through the Tamil and French colonies before returning to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 14 Pondichery – Chennai ( 162 Kms - 4 Hrs )

After breakfast at your hotel, you will leave for Chennai. After lunch in the city, you will have time to rest. You will then head to the airport to board your return flight.
