Day 01 Cochin

On arrival, your Kamalan representative will pick you up, accompany you to your hotel and help you check in.

You will have lunch at your hotel. Afterwards, you will visit the St Francis Church. It is the oldest European church in India built in 1503. Vasco de Gama was originally buried here, before he was moved to Lisbon.

The extraordinary Chinese fishing nets are a sight to behold. These unusual, elegantly balanced, shore operated fishnets are 10m high and rumored to be of Chinese origin, possibly introduced by Zhang He.

You will also visit the Mattancherry or Dutch Palace. It was constructed by the Portuguese and gifted to the Raja of Kochi in 1555. It was created in the traditional style of architecture with a courtyard in the centre. It houses some of the finest murals of Hindu temple art. The Jewish synagogue in Cochin was built in 1568 and is of great historical importance. No visit to Cochin is complete without viewing its attractive collections.

In the evening, witness the traditional Kathakali dance.

Day 02 Cochin - Olavipe

After breakfast, you will have some free time to walk along the Chinese fishing nets. Later you will drive to Olavipe. You will walk through a village and watch the local fishermen cast their swirling nets into the backwaters of Kerala.

You will get to enjoy a wonderful meal made by a local family to get a taste of the authentic flavors of the region. After enjoying the hospitality of a local family, you will return to your hotel.

Day 03 Olavipe

This morning, you will visit the local market and shop for local products and specialties. You will then return to your hotel to spend some time around the farm. After lunch, you will enjoy a bicycle tour of the villages nearby allowing you to enjoy soothing scenery.

Afterwards, you will have cooking classes learning to prepare local dishes from family recipes! You will then return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 04 Olavipe - Palakkad

After breakfast, you will drive to Palakkad. A region blessed with lush greenery and abundant natural beauty, with rice fields dotting the landscape. On arrival, you will have some time to relax at the homestay.

After lunch, you will do a tour in the local spice plantations, for which the region is famous. You will then return to your hotel.

Day 05 Palakkad

This morning you will visit the Silent Valley National Park. The park is a virgin tropical rainforest with a fine representation of peninsular mammals. It is also home to a variety of rare butterflies, moths and frogs. You will then return to your hotel.

After lunch, you will enjoy a walk through the near by plantations overlooking the Kanhirapuzha dam. This area is serene and picturesque – perfect for a leisurely walk! Afterwards, you will return to your hotel.

Day 06 Palakkad - Tellicherry

After breakfast, you will head Tellicherry. Tellicherry, on the Malabar Coast, is known as the city of cricket and circuses. It is believed that the first time that Indians played cricket was here and that it was also the birthplace of the Indian circus.

On arrival, you will check into Ayesha Manzil. For lunch, you will enjoy a traditional Mappila lunch, a wholesome and spicy cuisine with rice as a common staple. You will then visit Mahe town. This quaint town was a French colony until the 50’s and reflects both Indian and French heritage. You will also visit the spice market and dance school before having dinner and turning in for the night.

Day 07: Tellicherry

Today your hostess Ms Faiza Moosa will teach you the secrets of making great curries. She is a well-known culinary expert in Kerala cuisine. The cuisine of Kerala makes liberal use of the spices and coconuts that are abundant in the area. Apart from vegetarian dishes, the coastal region also boasts a variety of seafood dishes.

In the evening, you will witness the traditional Theyyam dance in a local temple at Tellicherry after which you will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 08: Tellicherry - Neeleshwaram

This morning you will head to Neeleshwaram where you will check into your hotel and have lunch.

In the evening, you can relax at the beach. The sandy beaches around Neeleshwaram are a great opportunity to relax and unwind. The local people are also warm and friendly. The area is also famous for the naturopathy centre nearby.

Day 09: Neeleshwaram

This morning, you are free to enjoy an Ayurvedic massage. After lunch you can visit the local paddy fields and gardens and enjoy the greenery of the region. In the evening, you will be able to enjoy the beaches once again.

Day 10: Neeleshwaram - Mangalore - Bombay

This morning you will head to Mangalore to board your flight to Mumbai. Here you will check in your hotel before starting the visit of the city. You first go to the Prince of Wales Museum which was founded in 1922 by prominent citizens of Mumbai. Divided primarily into 3 sections – art, archaeology and natural history, it houses more than 50,000 artifacts.

You will also visit the Ganesh temple and the Gateway of India. This monument, located on the waterfront in South Mumbai, was erected to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911. The monument was completed in 1924. The monument was meant to be the first sight for all visitors coming to Bombay by boat. You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 11: Bombay

This morning, you will visit the Elephanta Caves. This is a complex of Hindu caves with beautiful high reliefs and is a world heritage site.

You will have a leisurely lunch and have the evening to relax at your hotel. You will then head to the airport to board your flight home.

EXTENSION VINEYARD
Day 11: Bombay - Pune

After breakfast, you will head to the airport to catch your flight to Pune. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and have the evening free to relax.

Day 12: Pune

This morning you will drive to Nashik to visit the Sula Vineyards. Rajeev Samant started this young vineyard in the late 90’s, after quitting his job in the Silicon Valley. Since then, Sula wines have grown in popularity and considered to be India’s finest wines. The vienyards now cover approximately 1500 acres of plantations.

You will have lunch at the Vineyards and return to your hotel in the evening.

Day 13: Pune - Bombay

This morning, you will explore Pune and enjoy the local markets. You will have lunch and in the evening board your flight to Mumbai and connect to your flight home.

EXTENSION GOA
Day 11 Mumbai - Goa

After breakfast, you will head to the airport to board your flight to Goa.

On arrival, your Kamalan representative will accompany you to your hotel and help you check in. After lunch, you will visit the Church of St Francis of Assisi. This church, originally built around 1551, by a group of Franciscan friars, was later demolished. The present church was built in 1661. After the Portuguese closed the convent in 1835, it fell into a state of disrepair. In 1964, the Archaeological Survey of India resurrected the church, and it now also houses a museum.

Next you will visit the Cathedral of Bom Jesus. This Basilica has long attracted Catholics from all over the world as it houses the mortal remains of St Francis Xavier, the patron saint of Goa. His body is embalmed in glass coffin inside a silver coffin.

After visiting the churches, you will walk through the old Portuguese colonies.

Day 12 & 13 Goa

Over the next couple of days, you can explore the magnificent beaches of Goa. The many fine sand beaches in Goa have something to offer everyone. Whether it is quiet relaxation, busy flea markets, bars and parties or local cuisine, Goa’s beaches have it all.

Day 13 Goa - Mumbai

This evening you will board your flight to Mumbai to catch your connecting flight back home. Your Kamalan representative will be there to assist you to board you flight.
