Day 01 Chennai

On arrival, your Kamalan representative will pick you up, accompany you to your hotel and help you check in. You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 02 Chennai – Mahabalipuram (60 Kms - 1 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you will leave for Mahabalipuram. On your way you will visit Kanchipuram which is known for being the city of a 1000 temples. It is also the home of the widely acclaimed Kanchipuram hand woven silk sarees.

You will have lunch here before making your way to your hotel. You will have the evening to relax and unwind.

Day 03 Mahabalipuram – Pondichery (100 Kms - 2 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you will explore Mahabalipuram. Here you will visit the Arjuna’s Penance, a huge bas-relief monolith depicting the Mahabharata dating back to the 7th Century.

You will also visit the Five Rathnas, five shrines that have been designated World Hertiage sites. Each of the shrines is a monolith carved out of pink granite and named after the five Pandava brothers from the Mahabharata.

Next comes a visit to the Shore Temple. Overlooking the Bay of Bengal, the Shore Temples is also a world heritage site. Built in the 8th century, the Shore Temple is a fine example of a structural temple built from granite.

Afterwards, you will leave for Pondicherry. On arrival you will check in to your hotel and have lunch at a local restaurant. In the evening, you can enjoy a walk on the beach. You will then return to your hotel and spend the night.

Day 04 Pondichery

After breakfast, you will visit the Aurobindo Ashram. Founded in 1926 by Shri Aurobindo, the Aurobindo Ashram is a large institution that has various publications and charitable benefits to the area and that attracts thousands of visitors. The teachings of Shri Aurobindo continue to find followers and influence thought both in India and the west.

Next you will visit a local church and the Manakula Vinayak Temple, which was built before 1666- before the French came to Pondicherry. Though many attempts to were made to destroy the temple and to prevent worship, they did not succeed and the temple still stands today.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will visit the Pondicherry museum, which will reveal fantastic sculptures, art and handicrafts. You will also enjoy a rickshaw ride through the Tamil and French quarters of Pondicherry.

In the evening, you will visit the local vegetable, fruit and flower markets, which will give you an insight into the local way of life. You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 05 Pondichery – Tanjore ( 180 kms - 4 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Tanjore. Tanjore is one of the oldest cities in India, famous for sculpture, architecture and paintings. Enroute, you will visit a local village and watch the local craft of rope making. This is done using coconut coir.

You will also visit the town of Gangai Konda Cholapuram. This ancient town was the capital of the Chola dynasty and is famous for its lavishly sculpted temple.

Next you will visit Swamimalai. This town is renowned for its shrine to Lord Subrahmanya.

After lunch at Kumbakonam, you will continue to Tanjore. On arrival, you will check into your hotel and spend the night.

Day 06 Tanjore - Chettinad ( 90 Kms - 2 Hrs )

After breakfast at your hotel, you will visit the Tanjore Gallery. You will see a variety of art from the Tanjore School. Next you will visit the Brihadeswara Temple. This is one of the most celebrated Hindu temple’s and a world heritage site. Afterwards, you will head to Chettinad. The region of Chettinad is well known for its cultural heritage and its culinary delicacies.

On arrival, you will check into your hotel and have lunch.

Later you will visit a local tile factory to watch the art of making and drying handmade terracotta tiles.

In the evening, you will have a cooking class at your hotel to discover the secrets of Chettinad cuisine. You will then spend the night at your hotel.

Day 07 Chettinad – Madurai ( 115 Kms - 2 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast at your hotel, you will leave for Madurai. Madurai is believed to be the oldest inhabited city in the Indian peninsula and is known as the ‘Temple city’. On arrival, you will check into your hotel and have lunch.

Afterwards, you will visit the the Tirumalai Nayak Palace. King Tirumalai Nayak built this unique palace with the help of an Italian architect. The building was started circa 1620 and blends Dravidian, Islamic and European styles.

Next comes a visit to the Meenakshi Amman temple. This temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati, has 14 elaborately sculpted pillars. The temple is believed to have been built in the 1600’s.

You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 08 Madurai – Periyar ( 150 Kms - 3 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you will leave for Periyar. The region of Periyar is synonymous with natural beauty and is home to a tiger reserve, abundant wildlife and forests.

On arrival, you will check into your hotel and have lunch. Afterwards, you will visit the local spice plantation. The plantations are captivating, with each section cultivating different spices.

In the evening, you will have cooking classes and learn how to combine these delicate spices in South Indian cuisine. You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 09 Periyar – Nedumudi ( 160 Kms - 4 Hrs)

After breakfast, you can enjoy an elephant ride or trek through the beautiful forests of Periyar. You will enjoy communing with nature and wildlife of the area.

Afterwards, you will leave for Nedumudi. Nedumudi is an ideal location for a getaway as it is blessed with lush green vegetation and abundant palms.

On arrival, you will check into your home stay. Afterwards, you will enjoy a country boat cruise on Lake Pampa. Next you will have a cooking class and learn to cook up local specialties.

You will then retire for the night.

Day 10 Nedumudi – Cochin ( 80 Kms - 1 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you will leave for Cochin. On arrival, you will check into your hotel and visit the local vegetable and fish market. You will have lunch and in the evening you witness a Kathakali dance show, which involves the stunning use of masks, and make up. You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 11 Cochin

After breakfast, you will visit the Mattancherry Palace. It was constructed by the Portuguese and gifted to the Raja of Kochi in 1555. It was created in the traditional style of architecture with a courtyard in the centre. It houses some of the finest murals of Hindu temple art.

The Jewish synagogue in Cochin was built in 1568 and is of great historical importance. No visit to Cochin is complete without viewing its attractive collections.

After lunch, you will have the afternoon to relax. Then you will have a special dinner at the most famous seafood restaurant at the Hotel Casino. Here you will enjoy traditional hospitality and cuisine. You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 12 Cochin

After breakfast, your Kamalan representative will pick you up, accompany you to the airport to catch your flight home.

EXTENSION KUMARAKOM
Day 12 Cochin- Kumarakom ( 60 Kms - 1 Hrs )

After breakfast you will visit Fort Cochin with its wealth of colonial architecture.

Then you will see, the extraordinary Chinese fishing nets that are a sight to behold. These unusual, elegantly balanced, shore operated fishnets are 10m high and rumored to be of Chinese origin, possibly introduced by Zhang He.

A visit to the St Francis Church is also important, since it is the oldest European church in India built in 1503. Vasco de Gama was originally buried here, before he was moved to Lisbon.

You will then leave for Kumarakom.

Day 13 Kumarakom - Alleppey - Kumarakom

This morning, you can relax at the resort. Around noon, you will board your houseboat and enjoy a cruise on the Vembanad Lake. You will explore the exquisite backwaters till Alleppey. You will have lunch on board.

From Alleppey, you will drive back to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 14 Kumarakom - Cochin ( 60 Kms - 1 Hrs )

After a relaxing morning, you will head to Cochin. In the evening, you will visit Ernakulam, the commercial capital of Kerala.

You will have dinner at your hotel and have the opportunity to wash and change before heading to the airport to board your flight home.

EXTENSION MARARI
Day 12 Cochin - Mararikulam ( 60 Kms - 1 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you will head to Marari. Marari offers a glimpse into traditional fishing villages with vast expanses of pristine beaches. Full of local charm, this area makes an idyllic holiday spot.

On arrival, you will check into your hotel. You can enjoy a massage or day cruise in a traditional Kerala rice boat with lunch on board.

Day 12 & 13 Mararikulam

For the next two days you will be free to relax at the beach. You can also try and Ayurvedic treatments and massages available in the area.

Day 14 Mararikulam - Cochin ( 60 Kms - 1 Hrs 30)

After a relaxing morning, you will head to Cochin. In the evening, you will visit Ernakulam, the commercial area of Cochin.

You will have dinner at your hotel and have the opportunity to wash and change before heading to the airport to board your flight home.

EXTENTION LAKSHDWEEP
Day 12 Cochin - Agatti ~ Bangaram

After breakfast, you will head to the Cochin airport for a connecting flight to Agatti. Here, a representative from the Bangaram Island will help you board your motorboat that will take you to the island. Between July and September, you can reach the island by helicopter as well.

Day 13 & 14 Bangaram Island

You can spend the next two days exploring the magnificent Bangaram Island, which has pristine silver sand beaches, breathtaking blue lagoons, coral reefs, and coconut palms. You can also engage in a variety of water sports such as snorkeling and scuba diving. Bangaram Island is also an ideal place to enjoy deep-sea fishing.

Day 15 Bangaram ~ Agatti - Cochin

After breakfast you will head to Agatti by boat to catch a flight to Cochin.

On arrival, you will check into your hotel. In the evening , you will visit Ernakulam, the commercial capital of Kerala and also have time to do some shopping. You will have dinner at your hotel and have the opportunity to wash and change before heading to the airport to board your flight home.

EXTENSION GOA
Day 12 Cochin - Goa

This morning, you will head to the airport after breakfast to board your flight to Goa. On arrival, you will head to your hotel to check in.

After lunch, you will visit the Church of St Francis of Assisi. This church, originally built around 1551, by a group of Franciscan friars, was later demolished. The present church was built in 1661. After the Portuguese closed the convent in 1835, it fell into a state of disrepair. In 1964, the Archaeological Survey of India resurrected the church, and it now also houses a museum.

Next you will visit the Cathedral of Bom Jesus. This Basilica has long attracted Catholics from all over the world as it houses the mortal remains of St Francis Xavier, the patron saint of Goa. His body is embalmed in glass coffin inside a silver coffin.

After visiting the churches, you will walk through the old Portuguese colonies.

Day 13 & 14 Goa

You can spend the next couple of day exploring the magnificent beaches of Goa. The many fine sand beaches in Goa have something to offer everyone. Whether it is quiet relaxation, busy flea markets, bars and parties or local cuisine, Goa’s beaches have it all.

Day 15 Goa - Mumbai

This evening you will board your flight to Mumbai to catch your connecting flight back home. Your Kamalan representative will be there to assist you to board you flight.

INSERTION MUNNAR
Day 08 Madurai – Munnar ( 180 Kms - 5 Hrs )

This morning, after breakfast, you will drive through the beautiful landscapes towards Munnar. You will arrive and check in to the hotel. After lunch you will visit the tea plantations and tea factory nearby. Tea lovers will be particularly fascinated by the various stages of tea processing. You will have the evening at leisure to relax and spend the night at your hotel.

Day 09 Munnar – Periyar ( 150 Kms - 4 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Periyar.
