Day 01 Delhi

On arrival, your Kamalan representative will meet you at the airport and accompany you to your hotel to help you check in. You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 02 Delhi - Agra ( 204 Kms - 4 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Agra. The city of Agra is believed to have been founded in 1504 by Sultan Sikander Lodi. The city flourished under Mughal rule and is most famous as the home of the Taj Mahal and other fine examples of Mughal architecture.

On arrival, you will check into your hotel. After lunch, you will visit you will visit Itimad Ud Daulah. This is a mausoleum commissioned by the Mughal Empress Nur jehan for her father. It is believed to be the blue print of the Taj Mahal and is said to resemble a jewel in a marble box. You will also visit the Agra Fort. This is a 16th century Mughal fortress built of red sandstone and comprises of many fairy tale palaces. Afterwards, you will explore the bustling local bazaars of the city. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 03 Agra - Samode ( 280 Kms - 6 Hrs )

Early this morning, you will visit the Taj Mahal. Considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World, this gem of a monument defines description. The Taj Mahal is actually a mausoleum, commissioned by Enperor Shah Jahan in loving memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Construction of this marble wonder began in 1632 and was completed around 1653. Thousands of laborers were employed to construct the monument, that is replete with decorate inlays, carvings and calligraphy. To this very day, the Taj is considered an architectural marvel.

You will return to your hotel for breakfast. Afterwards, you will leave for the Samode Palace. The exquisite Samode Palace has been beautifully restored and is now one the best heritage hotels in the country. En route, you will visit you will visit Fatehpur Sikri followed by lunch. Built by the emperor Akbar about 35 kms from Agra, Fatehpur Sikri is home to many historical buildings. Akbar wanted to make Fatehpur Sikri his headquarters, however, he had to abandon it due to shortage of water. Today, Fatehpur Sikri is a UNESCO World heritage site. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and have the evening at lesire before turning in for the night.

Day 04 Samode - Jaipur ( 40 Kms - 1 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Jaipur. Also called the ‘Pink City’, Jaipur is the city of royalty. Filled with palaces and forts, Jaipur is the perfect place for visitors to get a glimpse into Rajasthan and its culture. On the way, you will visit the Amber Fort. Bordering the Maota Lake, this beautiful citadel merges both Hindu and Mughal style of architecture. The greatest way to explore the fort is to ride up to it on an elephant! You will then check in to your hotel and have lunch. In the evening, you will explore the local markets and soak in the local flavours. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 05 Jaipur

After breakfast, you will visit the City Palace. The City Palace is in fact a palace complex built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. Many of the rooms have been turned into museums and galleries allowing visitors to catch a glimpse of Rathasthan’s regal past.

You will then get to explore the Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory dating back to around 1730. After lunch, you will have some to go shopping in the local markets and perhaps pick up some souvenirs of your trip. You will return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 06 Jaipur -Shahpura (220 Kms, 04 Hrs)

After breakfast, you will leave for Shahpura. This is beautiful 19th century manor hotel, a part of which is still occupied by heirs of the royal family. You will check in and have lunch. In the evening, you can walk to the village to take in the local culture. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 07 Shahpura - Udaipur ( 220 Kms - 4 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Udaipur. En route, you will visit the Chittorgarh Fort. Built in the 7th century, this massive fort complex occupies almost 700 acres of land and is the largest fort in Rajasthan. Its history includes sagas of valor in battle, chivalry and sacrifice.

On arrival, you will check in to your hotel. Later you will enjoy a boat ride on the Lake Picchola where locals and visitors alike come to relax. Afterwards, you will return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 08 Udaipur - Delhi

After breakfast, you will visit the City Palace. This architectural marvel blends Medieval, European and Chinese architecture replete with domes, towers and arches. You will have lunch in the city and later visit Sahelion ki Bari. Legend has it that this picturesque garden was built for the queen and her ladies in waiting. The lush greenery is a treat in the deserts of Rajasthan. After lunch, you will look around the local bazaars. You will then return to your hotel and then leave for the airport to catch your flight to Delhi. Here you will check in and spend the night at your hotel.

Day 09 Delhi

After breakfast, You will also explore Jama Masjid. The Jama Masjid is the largest and perhaps the best-known mosques in India. Commissioned by emperor Shah Jahan, and completed in 1656, the courtyard of the mosque can hold about 25,000 worshippers.

You will then take a rickshaw ride in Chandni Chowk. Chandni Chowk is the busiest market in Old Delhi. Noisy, chaotic and uniquely Indian, it is famous for its several restaurants and confectioners. Needless to say, this is a rickshaw ride you will never forget!

You will get a chance to see the government buildings in Delhi. The government buildings in Delhi are an ode to British Colonial architecture, spearheaded by the architect Edward Lutyens. You may choose to begin your day with a pigeon flying experience.

You will also explore India Gate, one of the largest war memorials in India. Designed by Edward Lutyens, it commemorates the thousands of soldiers that lost their lives during the First World War. This monument is an important landmark in Delhi, with many important roads leading off the Gate. In the evenings, India Gate is lit up and you will find many families enjoying their free time near by.

Afterwards, you will visit Humayun’s tomb. Commissioned by Humayun’s wife Hamida Banu Begum in 1562, it was the first garden tomb built in the Indian sub-continent. The Persian architect used red sandstone on a large scale and this UNESCO world heritage site represented a huge leap for Mughal architecture.

After dinner in the city you will head to the airport to board your flight home.

EXTENSION AMRITSAR

Day 09 Delhi - Amritsar

This morning, you will either have breakfast at your hotel or carry a packed breakfast and board your train to Amritsar.

On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and have lunch. Afterwards, you will explore the city of Amritsar.

You will begin with a visit to the Golden Temple. This is the most significant temple for the Sikh community. The ‘langar’ or community kitchen serves free meals all year round to roughly 40,000 visitors a day. It is truly a remarkable experience to visit this place of worship. You will then visit the Wagah Border. The Wagah border is India’s only road crossing border with neighboring Pakistan. It is a ceremonial border, where every evening, the guards from both countries perform the ‘lowering of the flags’. This moving ceremony attracts many tourists on either side of the border.

Next you will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 10 Amritsar - Delhi

After breakfast at your hotel, you will visit the Jallianwala Bagh. This small park was the site of a massacre in 1919 spearheaded by a British general. This event caused general unrest and agitations and was one of the precursors to India’s struggle for freedom. Next you will visit the Durgiana temple. Dedicated to the Goddess Durga, this temple is based on the architecture of the Golden Temple.

You will then visit Rambagh, the palace and gardens of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The summer palace has now been converted into a museum holding weapons and portraits.

You will also visit Khalsa College, a historic educational institute. Next comes a visit toe the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum. The museum houses old coins, manuscripts, arms and armour.

Afterwards, you will take the train or a flight back to Delhi. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel where you will spend the night.

Day 11 Delhi

After breakfast, you will explore Delhi. You may choose to start your day with a pigeon flying session. First you will visit the Jama Masjid. The Jama Masjid is the largest and perhaps the best-known mosques in India. Commissioned by emperor Shah Jahan, and completed in 1656, the courtyard of the mosque can hold about 25,000 worshippers. You will then take a rickshaw ride in Chandni Chowk. Chandni Chowk is the busiest market in Old Delhi. Noisy, chaotic and uniquely Indian, it is famous for its several restaurants and confectioners. Needless to say, this is a rickshaw ride you will never forget!

Next you will visit the Red Fort from outside. Also constructed under the emperor Shah Jahan, this fort also served as the residence for the Mughal royal family. The British later used it as a military camp. It continues to be significant even today, as every Independence Day, the Prime Minister raises the flag here.

You will also get a chance to see the government buildings in Delhi. The government buildings in Delhi are an ode to British Colonial architecture, spearheaded by the architect Edward Lutyens.

You will also explore India Gate, one of the largest war memorials in India. Designed by Edward Lutyens, it commemorates the thousands of soldiers that lost their lives during the First World War. After lunch in the city, you will visit the Qutab Minar. This is the tallest brick minaret in the world, commissioned by Qutbuddin Aibak, the first Muslim ruler of Delhi. His successors continued to enhance the structure, with the final storey added in 1386.

The next stop is Humayun’s tomb. Commissioned by Humayun’s wife Hamida Banu Begum in 1562, it was the first garden tomb built in the Indian sub-continent. The Persian architect used red sandstone on a large scale and this UNESCO world heritage site represented a huge leap for Mughal architecture.

You will then head to the airport. A Kamalan representative will help you check in and board your flight home.

EXTENSION SHIMLA

Day 09 Delhi - Shimla

After breakfast at the hotel, you will fly to Shimla, located in the northwest Himalayas. The British, who made Shimla their summer capital, dubbed it ‘Queen of the Hills’.

On arrival, you will check in to you hotel where you will have some time to relax. Your hotel, situated at 8250 feet, will allow you to enjoy beautiful views of the mountains and valleys. You may also enjoy the outdoor Jacuzzi and heated pool. You can take plenty of walks in the trails nearby that allow you to enjoy the fragrant pine forests.

Day 10 Shimla

After breakfast, you explore the hill station of Shimla. You can take a walk along the Mall Road, which is the main shopping street with plenty of shops, restaurant and bars. People usually take their time strolling down Mall Road, stopping to chat and meet up with their friends.

You will also visit Christ Church, the second oldest church in the country with beautiful stained glass windows.

Next you will visit the nearby Jakhu Hill. Situated at 8,000 feet, this peak allows beautiful views of the town and the snow-capped Himalayan Mountains. A temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman is located at the top of the hill and is also home to hundreds of monkeys all eager to be fed!

Kufri, located 13 kms away from Shimla has a small Himayalan Zoo as and has a popular ski track.

The scenic beauty of Shimla and the surrounding areas allow plenty of opportunities for mountain bicycling, horse riding and river rafting. You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 11 Shimla - Delhi

After breakfast, you will catch a flight back to Delhi. After checking into your hotel, you will set out to explore Delhi. You will start with a visit to the Jama Masjid. Day 10 Delhi - Varanasi

After breakfast, you will head to the airport to catch a flight to Varanasi. The ancient city of Varanasi on the banks of the River Ganges is considered the holiest city for Hindu pilgrims. Hindus believe that bathing in the Ganges at Varanasi will remit their sins. It is also considered a holy city for Buddhists, believed to have been designated a pilgrimage site by Gautama Buddha himself. A city of temples, art, literature and education, the atmosphere in Varanasi is completely unique. On arrival, you will check into your hotel.

In the evening, you will witness the prayer ceremony that is performed amidst pealing bells and hundreds of pilgrims. The sunset ceremony is truly a sight to behold!

You will then return to your hotel to spend the night

Day 11 Varanasi

Early this morning you will leave for a boat ride on the Ganges. This enthralling experience will allow you to witness people offering their prayers, professional washer men doing the laundry as well people waking up to do their daily chores.

You will return to your hotel and have breakfast. In the afternoon you will head to Sarnath for an excursion. Sarnath is a holy pilgrimage site for Buddhists. It is the site of the deer park where Gautama Buddha taught his Dharma (faith) and is also an important centre for the arts. You will also visit the Sarnath Museum.

You will have dinner and spend the night at your hotel.

Day 12 Varanasi - Delhi

After breakfast, you will have some free time to relax or explore the city on your own. You will then catch your flight to Delhi. On arrival, you will have some free time to explore Delhi on your own before returning to the hotel to spend the night.

EXTENSION CORBETT

Day 09 Delhi - Corbett ( 296 Kms - 6 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Jim Corbett National Park. This is one of the first wildlife reserves of India established in 1936 in the Himalayan foothills. With a variety of terrains and habitats, Corbett National Park is home to a variety of animal and plant species. The most famous residents of the Park are the Royal Bengal tiger and the Asiatic elephant.

After you have checked in to your hotel, you will get the opportunity to take a jeep or canter safari through the Corbett National Park. If your lucky, you will get the chance to spot big cats such as leopards and tigers, monkeys and langurs, sloth bears and many other countless species.

You will then return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 10 Corbett

This morning, you will continue your safari in the Corbett National Park. You may appreciate the numerous varieties of birds including pelicans, herons and storks.

After breakfast at the hotel you will have to the chance to rest. In the evening, you will continue your safari and enjoy the beautiful landscapes. At the Corbett National Park, the breathtaking terrain covers both mountainous regions and those of the plains.

You will return to the hotel to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 09 Delhi/Goa

After breakfast, you will head to the airport to catch your flight to Goa. Located on the western coast of India, Goa is the smallest India state. Known for its fantastic beaches and historical churches, Goa still exhibits its history as a Portuguese colony.

On arrival, you will check in to the hotel and have lunch. Later, you will head to explore the Goan churches and cathedrals. You will start with a visit to the Se Cathedral. Consecrated in 1640, the cathedral is dedicated to Catherine of Alexandria.

Next you visit the Church of St Francis Xavier. Goans are deeply devoted to St Francis Xavier, and though the church has only one altar, this church offers visitors simple sanctity.

St. Catherine’s Church stands out as a pale yellow structure with distinctly Renaissance features. The Archaeological Survey of India now protects the church.

You will also see the Viceroy’s Arch. The arch was built as a memorial to Vasco De Gama and stands on the jetty of Old Goa. It is said that every Viceroy had to pass through this arch before taking office.

The Miramar beach is a beautiful golden beach with soft sand, and dotted with palm trees. With its captivating views, it is an ideal location for lovely long walks along the shore.

Day 10 & 11 Goa

For the next two days, you can explore the magnificent beaches of Goa. The many fine sand beaches in Goa have something to offer everyone. Whether it is quiet relaxation, busy flea markets, bars and parties or local cuisine, Goa’s beaches have it all.

Day 12 Goa - Delhi

After breakfast, you will head to the airport to catch your flight back to Delhi.
