Day 01 Chennai

When you arrive, your Kamalan representative will meet you at the airport and accompany you to your hotel to help you check in.

You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 02 Chennai - Portblair - Havelock

This morning you will leave for Chennai airport after breakfast, to catch your connecting flight to Port Blair.

At your arrival, you will be met by a Kamalan representative who will help you board the government ferry at the Port Blair jetty. The ferry will take you to Havelock Island.

(All boat tickets timings and availability are subject to sea and weather conditions, government permits and the Department of Shipping Schedule. The duration is between 2hrs30 to 4hrs30, you can also get to Havelock jetty from the Port Blair jetty via a privately chartered boat).

Once at Havelock you will check into your hotel and spend the night.

Day 03 till 06 Havelock

For the next 4 days, you can relax on the undisturbed beaches of Havelock.

The beaches of Havelock in the Andaman Islands are some of the world’s best-kept secrets. Many of the Andaman Islands are still uninhabited and thanks to the efforts of environmentalists, the areas that are open to tourists retain their natural beauty. These beaches, allow visitors reconnect with nature without the interruptions of television, Internet or ringing telephones! It is almost impossible to describe the region in words – suffice it to say, it is a little slice of paradise on earth!

Day 07 Havelock – Port Blair

After breakfast you will board the government ferry from Havelock jetty.

On arrival you will head to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 08 Portblair - Chennai

After breakfast, you will leave the hotel and head to the airport to catch you flight to Chennai. On arrival you will check into the hotel and have lunch. In the evening, you can walk around the Marina Beach. The Marina beach is a popular hang-our spot for people of all ages. You will see joggers, food stalls and fisherman’s colonies along the shore. This area was heavily affected by the Tsunami in 2004 and a lot of effort has gone into rebuilding the area.

You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 09 Chennai

After breakfast at the hotel, you will visit Kalakshetra, which means ‘holy place of the arts’ was set up to revive the ancient artistic traditions of the country. A wonderful place to get a glimpse of the rich artistic traditions of India.

After this you will visit the Kapaleshwar Temple. This is the largest temple in Chennai and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It houses some beautiful sculptures and bronze statues.

Next you will visit St. Mary’s Church, affectionately called the ‘Westminster Abbey of the East’. It is the oldest British building in India and also the oldest Anglican Church east of the Suez. The unsigned altarpiece depicts the Last Supper and shows signs of being from the Raphaelite School.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will visit the Bronze Museum known for one of the finest bronze collections in the world; the Bronze gallery showcases some of the finest bronze artifacts dating from early centuries of the Christian era to more modern times.

In the evening, you will return to the hotel to wash and change and prepare to board your flight home.

EXTENSION GOA
Day 10 Chennai - Goa

After breakfast, you will leave for the airport to catch your flight to Goa.

On arrival, you will check into you hotel, after which you can relax on the beach before turning in for the night.

Day 11 & Day 12 Goa

Today you can explore the magnificent beaches of Goa. The many fine sand beaches in Goa have something to offer everyone. Whether it is quiet relaxation, busy flea markets, bars and parties or local cuisine, Goa’s beaches have it all.

Day 13 Goa - Bombay

This morning you have free time to yourself. In the afternoon, you will head to the airport to catch your connecting flight to Mumbai. From here you will catch your flight back home.

EXTENSION PONDICHERRY
Day 09 Chennai – Pondicherry ( 170 Kms - 3 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you will leave for Pondicherry. En route, you will visit Mahabalipuram. Here you will visit the Arjuna’s Penance, a huge bas-relief monolith depicting the Mahabharata dating back to the 7th Century.

You will also visit the Five Rathnas, five shrines that have been designated World Hertiage sites. Each of the shrines is a monolith carved out of pink granite and named after the five Pandava brothers from the Mahabharata.

Next comes a visit to the Shore Temple. Overlooking the Bay of Bengal, the Shore Temples is also a world heritage site. Built in the 8th century, the Shore Temple is a fine example of a structural temple built from granite.

After lunch in Mahabalipuram you will reach Pondicherry, check-in your hotel. You will have free time to relax and feel the peaceful atmosphere of the city.

Day 10 Pondicherry

After breakfast you will visit the Aurobindo Ashram. Founded in 1926 by Shri Aurobindo, the Aurobindo Ashram is a large institution that has various publications and charitable benefits to the area and that attracts thousands of visitors. The teachings of Shri Aurobindo continue to find followers and influence thought both in India and the west.

Next you will visit the Manakula Vinayak Temple, which was built before 1666- before the French came to Pondicherry. Though many attempts to were made to destroy the temple and to prevent worship, they did not succeed and the temple still stands today.

After lunch, you will visit the Pondicherry museum that will reveal fantastic sculptures, art and handicrafts.

To get a real taste of Pondicherry, you will take a rickshaw ride through the Tamil and French colonies before returning to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 11 Pondicherry – Tranquebar ( 140 Kms - 3 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you leave for Tranquebar. En route, you will visit the Natrajan Temple in Chidambaram. Chidambaram is known for the famous Natrajan temple, one of the most ancient temples in the region. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of the cosmic dancer. Spread over forty acres, people of all faiths are welcome to visit the shrine.

After your visit, you will head to your hotel to check in and have lunch.

Next you will visit the Danish fort. The Dansborg fort was built in 1620 by the Danes you used Tranquebar as a major trading port. After this, you will enjoy a walk around the beach before returning to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 12 Tranquebar – Dindigul ( 300 Kms - 7 Hrs )

After breakfast you will leave for Dindigul. On the way you will visit the Brihadisvara Temple. This temple is a testament to the major architectural achievements of the Chola dynasty in the 11th century AD. The temple is the first one to be built completely in granite.

After this, you will visit the Bronze museum in Tanjore, a collection of bronze artifacts of rare artistic quality.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will check and spend the night at your hotel.

Day 13 Dindigul

After breakfast, you will have the chance to explore the local area, which is famous for its textile and handloom industries. The Dindigul town is also famous for manufacturing iron locks.

After lunch at your hotel, you will also have the opportunity to visit a local temple, as well as spend some time relaxing by lake. Away from the hustle bustle of the streets, the lake side will allow to hear the gently breeze and the songs of the birds.

Day 14 Dindigul – Madurai ( 60 Kms - 1 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast you will leave for Madurai. On arrival you will check into your hotel and have lunch. Then you will leave for a visit of the Tirumalai Nayak Palace. King Tirumalai Nayak built this unique palace with the help of an Italian architect. The building was started circa 1620 and blends Dravidian, Islamic and European styles.

Next comes a visit to the Meenakshi Amman temple. This temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati, has 14 elaborately sculpted pillars. The temple is believed to have been built in the 1600’s.

After this you will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 15 Madurai - Chennai

You have a free morning to yourself today. After lunch you will leave for the Madurai airport to catch a flight to Chennai. On arrival in Chennai you will have the opportunity to wash and change. After dinner, you will head to the airport to catch you flight back home.
