Day 01 Cochin

On arrival, your Kamalan representative will pick you up, accompany you to your hotel and help you check in.

Relax at your hotel and catch up on some sleep. After lunch, you can enjoy a leisurely walk around the Fort Cochin area and soak up the local flavour.

Fort Cochin has some of the finest European architecture in the region influenced by the Portuguese and the Dutch. You will also get to witness the traditional Kathakali dance.

You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 02 Cochin

After breakfast you will visit Fort Cochin with its wealth of colonial architecture. The extraordinary Chinese fishing nets are a sight to behold. These unusual, elegantly balanced, shore operated fishnets are 10m high and rumored to be of Chinese origin, possibly introduced by Zhang He.

A visit to the St Francis Church is also important, since it is the oldest European church in India built in 1503. Vasco de Gama was originally buried here, before he was moved to Lisbon.

The Jewish synagogue in Cochin was built in 1568 and is of great historical importance. No visit to Cochin is complete without viewing its attractive collections.

In the afternoon, you will drive to Alleppey, where you will enjoy a half-day cruise. You will have lunch on board the houseboat.

After the cruise you will head back to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 03 Cochin - Kumarakom ( 60 Kms - 1 Hr )

After breakfast, you will head to Kumarakom where you will check in to your hotel. Then you have some free time in the land of the backwaters. You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 03 Cochin - Mangalore - Neeleshwaram ( 90 Kms - 2 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will head to the airport to board your flight to Mangalore. Once you arrive in Mangalore you will head to Neeleshwaram where you will check into your hotel and have lunch.

You will have the evening to yourself to relax and spend the night in your hotel.

Day 04 to Day 9 Neeleshwaram

For the next few days, you can enjoy the beaches around the area. The sandy beaches around Neelshwaram are a great opportunity to relax and unwind. The local people are also warm and friendly. The area is also famous for the naturopathy centre nearby.

Day 10 Neeleshwaram - Mangalore - Cochin ( 90 Kms - 2 Hrs)

After breakfast you will head to Mangalore to board your flight to Cochin after lunch. You can then wash and change and prepare for your flight home. Your Kamalan representative will help you board your flight home.

EXTENSION WAYANAD & MYSORE
Day 10 Neeleshwaram - Tellicherry ( 100 Kms - 3 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will head Tellicherry which is located on the Malabar Coast, is known as the city of cricket and circuses. It is believed that the first time Indians played cricket it was here and that Tellicherry was also the birthplace of the Indian circus.

Once you have checked in to your hotel, you will have lunch. In the afternoon, you will visit Tellicherry fort. The fort was built by the British East India Company in 1708 to fortify their position o the Malabar coast.

A visit to the Tellicherry spice market is an experience not to be missed!

After this you will head back to the hotel where you will spend the night.

Day 11 Tellicherry

This morning you will walk through the local markets giving you an insight into the local flavours and customs. You will then head back to the hotel for breakfast.

After breakfast you will visit the town of Kannur. Known as the land of looms, no visit to Kannur is complete without a visit to a weaving factory. The area is also famous for its beedi (locally rolled cigarette) factories which are the best in the industry.

St Angelo’s fort, built in 1505 by the Portuguese, changed hands several times as the Portuguese, British and local rulers fought for control of the area.

After this you will head back to your hotel for lunch.

In the evening, you will witness the Theyyam dance, a Hindu ritual of worship. It is considered a great privilege to perform this ritual and the performers hold an esteemed position in the area.

You will then return to your hotel where you will spend the night.

Day 12 Tellicherry - Wayand ( 150 Kms - 4 Hrs )

After breakfast you will head to Wayanad.

The Wayanad area is set high on the Western Ghats, and is called the Land of the Paddy fields. It is known for its abundant natural beauty and the local population includes indigenous tribals.

On arrival you will check into your hotel and have lunch. You will have the evening free to relax.

Day 13 Wayanad

Early this morning you will head to the Muthanga forest in a jeep to catch a glimpse of the wildlife. The Muthunga Wildlife sanctuary is home to a variety of species including elephants, sloth bears, jungle cats, bison and many more.

You will then head back to the hotel for breakfast.

After that you will head to the Eddkal caves. The caves are situated on an ancient trade route between Mysore and the Malabar Coast. It contains carvings that suggest that they were created by civilized prehistoric people.

Next comes a visit to the Jain temple, believed to have been constructed in the 13th century. It is sometimes called Sultan’s battery or Tipu’s fort because Tipu Sultan used it to store ammunition.

You will then head to your hotel and have lunch. You will have the evening free to relax and spend the night here.

Day 14 Wayanad- Mysore ( 115 Kms - 3 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will drive through the mountain ghats and the Karnataka forest. The western ghats are a mountain range that runs along the entire western side of India. Beautifully picturesque, the region is host to complex river and ecosystems, lakes, reservoirs and countless species of flaura and fauna.

The Karnataka forests that range from the Ghats to scrub jungles in the plains are home to 25% of India’s elephant population. Blessed with a variety of wildlife and biodiversity, the Karnataka forests have 5 national parks and 21 sanctuaries to protect its bounty.

Once you arrive at your hotel, you will check in and have lunch.

Next you will visit the Chamundi Hills. The Chamundi Hills offer a panoramic view of the region and a long stairway of 1511 steps leads to the top of the hill. Though it is an effort to climb to the top, the view is most definitely worth it!

A visit to the local flower market, with a wide variety of grangrances and colours is a treat to the senses!

You will then head back to the hotel to spend the night.

Day 15 Mysore

After breakfast you will visit Somnathpur. This town is famous for the Keshava temple that is believed to have been built in 1268 AD.

You will return to your hotel for lunch. After that you will visit the Mysore Palace. This spectacular building was commissioned in 1897 but was only complete in 1912. Every year it plays host to the annual Maysore Dasara festival.

After your visit to the Mysore Palace, you will have some free time for shopping before you return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 16 Mysore - Bangalore ( 150 Kms - 4 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will head to Bangalore. En route you will stop to visit Srirangapatnam, a place of great religious and historical significance. In fact, it is the site of the infamous battle between Tipu Sultan and the British army. Tipu died in battle within the fort of Srirangaptnam and the place where he fell has been turned into a memorial.

On arrival in Bangalore, you will board your flight to your next destination.

Day 03 Cochin - Munnar ( 150 Kms - 4 Hrs )

This morning, you will drive through the beautiful landscape after breakfast and visit the tea gardens, which are breathtakingly beautiful with vast hillocks carpeted with tea plants.

You will arrive and check in to the hotel. After lunch you will visit the tea museum in Munnar. The Tea Museum at Munnar depicts the journey and efforts of the pioneers to help make this region into a major tea plantation centre. Tea lovers will be particularly fascinated by the various stages of tea processing.

You will also have the opportunity to visit a local market before heading back to your hotel for dinner and spend the night.

Day 03 Munnar - Periyar ( 170 Kms - 4-5 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will head to Periyar. Enroute you will have the chance to visit some spectacular tea plantations. You will then check in to your hotel and have lunch.

Post lunch, you will have free time to enjoy an Ayurvedic massage or even an elephant ride!

You will spend the night at the hotel.

Day 04 Periyar-Cochin ( 210 Kms - 5 Hrs )

This morning, you will leave for Cochin after breakfast. On the way you will have the chance to see the rubber plantations and tea gardens that the region is famous for.

On your arrival in Cochin, you will board a houseboat for a cruise of the backwaters. You will have lunch on board.

You will disembark at Alleppey and head back to Cochin where you will spend the night.

Day 05 Cochin - Mangalore

This morning you will drive to the airport to board your flight to Mangalore.
