Day 01 Delhi

On arrival, your Kamalan representative will pick you up, accompany you to your hotel and help you check in. You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 02 Delhi - Mandawa ( 260 Kms - 5 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will visit the Jama Masjid. The Jama Masjid is the largest and perhaps the best-known mosques in India. Commissioned by emperor Shah Jahan, and completed in 1656, the courtyard of the mosque can hold about 25,000 worshippers.

Next you will visit to Rajghat, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. This simple memorial marks the spot where the Mahatma was cremated in 1948. It consists of a black marble platform with an eternal flame that burns at one end. A visit to Rajghat is an innately moving experience. You will also get a chance to see the Presidents House and government buildings in Delhi. The government buildings in Delhi are an ode to British Colonial architecture, spearheaded by the architect Edward Lutyens.

You will also visit India Gate, one of the largest war memorials in India. Designed by Edward Lutyens, it commemorates the thousands of soldiers that lost their lives during the First World War. This monument is an important landmark in Delhi, with many important roads leading off the Gate.

After lunch in Delhi, you will head to Mandawa. Rich merchant families originally inhabited Mandawa village. They built beautiful mansions (havelis) adorned with paintings. Here you will check in to your hotel, have dinner and spend the night.

Day 03 Mandawa - Bikaner ( 190 Kms - 3 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will visit the painted Havelis of Mandawa village. Afterwards, you will visit Bikaner. Here you will check in to your hotel. You will have lunch and visit Fort Junagarh. This unassailable fortress was built in 1593.

You will also visit the local bazaars and soak up the flavors of the region. You will return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 04 Bikaner - Jaisalmer ( 330 Kms - 6 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will head to Jaisalmer. This town lies in the heart of the Thar Desert and is a place filled with color and tradition. Founded in 1156 A.D Jaisalmer was once a major trade centre on the trading route between India and the west. Today, thousands of tourists come here annually to experience some of its magical charm. You will have lunch on the way and check in to your hotel on arrival.

In the evening, you will visit Gadisar Lake. In the olden days this man-made reservoir was the only source of water for Jaisalmer. It is surrounded by shrines and attracts many migratory birds.

Next you will visit the Vyas Chhatri. This is the cenotaph of the sage Vyas, the author of the Mahabharat. The Vyas Chhatri is also known as sunset point as it allows fantastic views of Jaisalmer, particularly at dusk.

You will then head back to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 05 Jaisalmer

This morning after breakfast you will explore Jaisalmer. You will visit the Jaisalmer Fort, built in the 12th century and was enhanced by subsequent rulers. The fort includes seven Jain temples.

After lunch, you will visit the Patwon ki Haveli. This is the largest and most elaborate mansion of its kind in Jaisalmer.

Next you will visit Nathmalji ki Haveli, a grand mansion that blends Rajput and Islamic architecture. Afterwards, you will visit the local markets and perhaps pick up some souvenirs of your trip. You will return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 06 Jaisalmer - Jodhpur ( 280 Kms - 5 Hrs )

This morning you will leave for Jodhpur after breakfast. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel.

After lunch, you will visit the Mehrangarh Fort. This spectacular fort made from red sandstone, stands on a perpendicular cliff above the skyline of Jodhpur. The foundations of this fort were laid in 1459. Today it houses a museum with a fine collection of arms, costumes, paintings and even a collection of palanquins.

Afterwards, you will visit the bazaar surrounding the clock tower. Here you will find a variety of herbs and spices, as well as local handicrafts. You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 07 Jodhpur - Kumbalgarh ( 250 Kms - 6 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Kumbalgarh. This is the site of a Mewar fortress and also the birthplace of the great Mewar king and warrior Maharana Pratap. En route you will visit the Ranakpur Jain Temple followed by lunch. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and spend the night.

Day 08 Kumbalgarh - Udaipur( 82 Kms - 2 Hrs 30 )

After breakfast, you will visit the Kumbalgarh fort, built in the 15th century and visit the temples near by.

Afterwards, you will head to Udaipur. Here you will check in to your hotel. After lunch, you will visit Sahelion ki Bari. Legend has it that this picturesque garden was built for the queen and her ladies in waiting. The lush greenery is a treat in the deserts of Rajasthan.

In the evening, you will enjoy a boat ride on the Lake Picchola where locals and visitors alike come to relax. Afterwards, you will return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 09 Udaipur

This morning, you will have breakfast and then visit the City Palace. This architectural marvel blends Medieval, European and Chinese architecture replete with domes, towers and arches.

Afterwards, you will leave to visit Nagda-Eklingi. Nagda and Eklingi are famous for their old Indian temples with interesting architectural features. You will return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 10 Udaipur - Jaipur

After breakfast, you will leave for Jaipur. Also called the ‘Pink City’, Jaipur is the city of royalty. Filled with palaces and forts, Jaipur is the perfect place for visitors to get a glimpse into Rajasthan and its culture. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel.

After lunch, you will visit the City Palace. The City Palace is in fact a palace complex built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. Many of the rooms have been turned into museums and galleries allowing visitors to catch a glimpse of Rathasthan’s regal past.

Day 11 Jaipur

After breakfast, you will explore the ‘Pink city’. You will begin with a visit the Amber Fort. Bordering the Maota Lake, this beautiful citadel merges both Hindu and Mughal style of architecture. The greatest way to explore the fort is to ride up to it on an elephant! After lunch in the city, you can take a rickshaw ride through the local bazaars before returning to your hotel to spend the night.

You will then get to explore the Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory dating back to around 1730. You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 12 Jaipur - Agra ( 240 Kms - 5 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Agra. The city of Agra is believed to have been founded in 1504 by Sultan Sikander Lodi. The city flourished under Mughal rule and is most famous as the home of the Taj Mahal and other fine examples of Mughal architecture.

En route to Agra, you will visit Fatehpur Sikri followed by lunch. Built by the emperor Akbar about 35 kms from Agra, Fatehpur Sikri is home to many historical buildings. Akbar wanted to make Fatehpur Sikri his headquarters, however, he had to abandon it due to shortage of water. Today, Fatehpur Sikri is a UNESCO World heritage site.

On arrival, you will check in to your hotel. Afterwards, will visit the Agra Fort. This is a 16th century Mughal fortress built of red sandstone and comprises of many fairy tale palaces.

You will return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.

Day13 Agra - Delhi ( 204 Kms - 4 Hrs )

Early this morning, you will visit the Taj Mahal.

Considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World, this gem of a monument defies description. The Taj Mahal is actually a mausoleum, commissioned by Enperor Shah Jahan in loving memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Construction of this marble wonder began in 1632 and was completed around 1653. Thousands of laborers were employed to construct the monument, that is replete with decorate inlays, carvings and calligraphy. To this very day, the Taj is considered an architectural marvel.

You will then have breakfast at your hotel and leave for Delhi. Here you will wash, change and rest before heading to the airport to board your flight home.

EXTENSION GOA
Day 14 Delhi - Goa

After breakfast, you will head to the airport to board your flight to Goa. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and have lunch. Afterwards, you will visit the Church of St Francis of Assisi. This church, originally built around 1551, by a group of Franciscan friars, was later demolished. The present church was built in 1661. After the Portuguese closed the convent in 1835, it fell into a state of disrepair. In 1964, the Archaeological Survey of India resurrected the church, and it now also houses a museum.

Next you will visit the Cathedral of Bom Jesus. This Basilica has long attracted Catholics from all over the world as it houses the mortal remains of St Francis Xavier, the patron saint of Goa. His body is embalmed in glass coffin inside a silver coffin. After visiting the churches, you will walk through the old Portuguese colonies. You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 15 & 16 Goa

For the next two days, you can explore the magnificent beaches of Goa. The many fine sand beaches in Goa have something to offer everyone. Whether it is quiet relaxation, busy flea markets, bars and parties or local cuisine, Goa’s beaches have it all.

Day 17 Goa - Delhi or Mumbai

After breakfast at your hotel you will head to the airport to board your flight to Delhi or Mumbai. You will have a room to wash and change before heading to the airport to board your flight home.

EXTENSION ANANDA
Day 14 Delhi - Haridwar Or Dheradun - Ananda

Today you will either travel by train to Haridwar or by flight to Dehradun to make your way to Ananda in the Himalayas. This beautiful spa hotel is located in the foothills of the Himalayas. Peaceful and tranquil, this is the perfect location to relax, detox and unwind. The spa hotel offers yoga, meditation and ayurvedic remedies for your mind and body.

After checking in, you can spend the rest of your day relaxing at the hotel.

Day 15 & 16 Ananda

You will spend the next two days trying the various wellness regimes on offer at the hotel. Traditional yoga, and Ayurveda can be combined with the finest international wellness experiences to rejuvenate you mind, body and spirit.

Day 17 Ananda - Haridwar Or Dehradun - Delhi

After breakfast, you will either board the train to Delhi from Haridwar or leave for Dehradun to catch your flight back to Delhi. After checking into your hotel, you will have some free time before you turn in for the night.

After breakfast, you will visit Humayun’s tomb. Commissioned by Humayun’s wife Hamida Banu Begum in 1562, it was the first garden tomb built in the Indian sub-continent. The Persian architect used red sandstone on a large scale and this UNESCO world heritage site represented a huge leap for Mughal architecture.

After lunch in the city, you will have some time to relax before heading to the airport to board your flight home.

Day 14 Delhi - Amritsar

After breakfast, you will head to the station to board your train to Amritsar. On arrival, you will check into your hotel and have lunch before exploring the city. You will start with the visit of the Jallianwala Bagh. This small park was the site of a massacre in 1919 spearheaded by a British general. This event caused general unrest and agitations and was one of the precursors to India’s struggle for freedom.

Next you will visit the Durgiana temple. Dedicated to the Goddess Durga, this temple is based on the architecture of the Golden Temple. You will then visit Rambagh, the palace and gardens of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The summer palace has now been converted into a museum holding weapons and portraits.

Day 15 Amritsar - Delhi

This morning you will begin with an early morning visit to the Golden Temple. This is the most significant temple for the Sikh community. The ‘langar’ or community kitchen serves free meals all year round to roughly 40,000 visitors a day. It is truly a remarkable experience to visit this place of worship.

You will then return to your hotel for breakfast. Then you head to the station to board the train to Delhi. You will be met by your Kamalan representative who will help you check into your hotel. You will spend the night here.

Day 14 Delhi - Shimla

After breakfast at the hotel, you will fly to Shimla, located in the northwest Himalayas. The British, who made Shimla their summer capital, dubbed it ‘Queen of the Hills’.

On arrival, you will check in to you hotel where you will have some time to relax. Your hotel, situated at 8250 feet, will allow you to enjoy beautiful views of the mountains and valleys. You may also enjoy the outdoor Jacuzzi and heated pool. You can take plenty of walks in the trails nearby that allow you to enjoy the fragrant pine forests.

You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 15 & 16 Shimla

After breakfast, you explore the hill station of Shimla. You will visit Christ Church, the second oldest church in the country with beautiful stained glass windows.

Next you will visit the nearby Jakhu Hill. Situated at 8,000 feet, this peak allows beautiful views of the town and the snow-capped Himalayan Mountains. A temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman is located at the top of the hill and is also home to hundreds of monkeys all eager to be fed!

Kufri, located 13 kms away from Shimla has a small Himayalan Zoo as and has a popular ski track.

After lunch, you can take a walk along the Mall Road, which is the main shopping street with plenty of shops, restaurant and bars. People usually take their time strolling down Mall Road, stopping to chat and meet up with their friends.

You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 17 Shimla - Delhi

After breakfast, you will catch your flight to Delhi. On arrival, your Kamalan representative will meet you at the airport. Later in the evening, you will head to the international airport to catch your return flight.

EXTENSION KHAJURAHO - VARANASI
Day 14 Delhi - Khajuraho

This morning, you will have breakfast and leave for Khajuraho. The town of Khajuraho is famous for the legendary Khajuraho temples, which belong to both the Hindu and Jain faiths. The temples were built between the 9th and the 12th century. Though only 20 of the original 85 temples survive, the facades of these temples are a sight to behold. They are replete with erotic sculptures and depictions of dance, music and other creative arts.

On arrival you will check into your hotel and have lunch. In the evening you will leave to visit the Eastern temples of Khajuraho, situated close to the village. Few of the Jain temples in the area are still in use. The temples have fine sculptures without sensuous themes. One of the oldest temples in Khajuraho, which is mostly in ruins is also situated here. Afterwards, you will visit the Western Temples of Khajuraho.

The Western group of temples is entirely Hindu and contains some of the most erotic sculptures found in a place of worship. These temples are considered to be the most evolved temple architecture and represent the Chandela dynasty at its peak.

You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 15 Khajuraho - Varanasi

After breakfast, you will have time to relax at your hotel. After an early lunch, you will board your flight to Varanasi.

On arrival, you will check into your hotel.

In the evening, you will have free time to discover the city by yourself. Here every evening, a prayer ceremony is performed amidst pealing bells and hundreds of pilgrims. The sunset ceremony is truly a sight to behold!

You will then return to your hotel to spend the night

Day 16 Varanasi/Delhi

Early this morning you will leave for a boat ride on the Ganges. This enthralling experience will allow you to witness people offering their prayers, professional washer men doing the laundry as well people waking up to do their daily chores.

You will return to your hotel for breakfast. Afterwards, you will board your flight to Delhi. Here you will have the opportunity to wash and change before you board your flight home.
