Day 01 Delhi

On arrival, your Kamalan representative will meet you at the airport and accompany you to your hotel to help you check in. You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 02 Delhi - Jaipur ( 260 Kms - 5 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will visit the Jama Masjid. The Jama Masjid is the largest and perhaps the best-known mosques in India. Commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan, and completed in 1656, the courtyard of the mosque can hold about 25,000 worshippers.

Next you will visit to Rajghat, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. This simple memorial marks the spot where the Mahatma was cremated in 1948. It consists of a black marble platform with an eternal flame that burns at one end. A visit to Rajghat is an innately moving experience. You will also get a chance to see the Presidents House and government buildings in Delhi. The government buildings in Delhi are an ode to British Colonial architecture, spearheaded by the architect Edward Lutyens.

You will also visit India Gate, one of the largest war memorials in India. Designed by Edward Lutyens, it commemorates the thousands of soldiers that lost their lives during the First World War. This monument is an important landmark in Delhi, with many important roads leading off the Gate.

After lunch in the city, you will head to Jaipur. Also called the ‘Pink City’, Jaipur is the city of royalty. Filled with palaces and forts, Jaipur is the perfect place for visitors to get a glimpse into Rajasthan and its culture.

On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and have some time at leisure before you turn in for the night.

Day 03 Jaipur

After breakfast, you will explore the ‘Pink city’. You will begin with a visit the Amber Fort. Bordering the Maota Lake, this beautiful citadel merges both Hindu and Mughal style of architecture. The greatest way to explore the fort is to ride up to it on an elephant! Next you will visit the City Palace. The City Palace is in fact a palace complex built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. Many of the rooms have been turned into museums and galleries allowing visitors to catch a glimpse of Rathasthan’s regal past.

After lunch, you will also visit to photograph the beautiful Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds is a popular landmark in Jaipur. Made of pink sand stone, the façade is almost pyramid shaped and adorned with latticework.

You will then get to explore the Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory dating back to around 1730. You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 04 Jaipur – Samode ( 40 Kms - 1 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for the Samode Palace. The exquisite Samode Palace has been beautifully restored and is now one the best heritage hotels in the country. En route, you will visit the Galta Temple. This unique temple is dedicated to the Sun God and is considered a holy pilgrimage site.

On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and have lunch. Afterwards you can take a walk to the local village or enjoy a jeep safari and appreciate the local desert landscape.

You will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 05 Samode – Agra ( 280 Kms - 6 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will leave for Agra. The city of Agra is believed to have been founded in 1504 by Sultan Sikander Lodi. The city flourished under Mughal rule and is most famous as the home of the Taj Mahal and other fine examples of Mughal architecture.

En route to Agra, you will visit Fatehpur Sikri followed by lunch. Built by the emperor Akbar about 35 kms from Agra, Fatehpur Sikri is home to many historical buildings. Akbar wanted to make Fatehpur Sikri his headquarters, however, he had to abandon it due to shortage of water. Today, Fatehpur Sikri is a UNESCO World heritage site.

On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and have some free time before you turn in for the night.

Day 06 Agra

After breakfast, you will visit the Taj Mahal.

Considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World, this gem of a monument defies description. The Taj Mahal is actually a mausoleum, commissioned by Enperor Shah Jahan in loving memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Construction of this marble wonder began in 1632 and was completed around 1653. Thousands of laborers were employed to construct the monument, that is replete with decorate inlays, carvings and calligraphy. To this very day, the Taj is considered an architectural marvel. You will also visit the Agra Fort. This is a 16th century Mughal fortress built of red sandstone and comprises of many fairy tale palaces.

After lunch, you will visit Itimad Ud Daulah. This is a mausoleum commissioned by the Mughal Empress Nur jehan for her father. It is believed to be the blue print of the Taj Mahal and is said to resemble a jewel in a marble box. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 07 Agra-Delhi ( 204 Kms - 5 Hrs )

After breakfast, you will head to Delhi and have lunch en route. You will have a room to wash and change before heading to the airport to board your flight home.

EXTENSION TO JHANSI, KHAJURAHO & VARANASI

Day 07 Agra - Jhansi - Orcha ( 19 Kms - 30 Mins )

After an early breakfast, you will take the train to Jhansi. Here you will visit the Jhansi fort. Built in the 17th century, the fort played an important role in India’s freedom movement. After lunch in the city,you will check into your hotel.

In the evening, you will visit the Orcha Temple and Orcha Palace. The Orcha fort complex actually houses three palaces. One of them is called Jehangir Palace in honour of the Emperor Jehangir. The friendship between the Orccha ruler Vir Singh and Jehangir went back a long way before either of them became rulers.

You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 08 Orcha – Khajuraho ( 170 Kms - 5 Hrs )

This morning, you will have breakfast and leave for Khajuraho. The town of Khajuraho is famous for the legendary Khajuraho temples, which belong to both the Hindu and Jain faiths. The temples were built between the 9th and the 12th century. Though only 20 of the original 85 temples survive, the facades of these temples are a sight to behold. They are replete with erotic sculptures and depictions of dance, music and other creative arts.

On arrival you will check into your hotel and have lunch. In the evening you will leave to visit the Eastern temples of Khajuraho, situated close to the village. Few of the Jain temples in the area are still in use. The temples have fine sculptures without sensuous themes. One of the oldest temples in Khajuraho, which is mostly in ruins is also situated here. Afterwards, you will visit the Western Temples of Khajuraho. The Western group of temples is entirely Hindu and contains some of the most erotic sculptures found in a place of worship. These temples are considered to be the most evolved temple architecture and represent the Chandela dynasty at its peak.

You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 09 Khajuraho - Varanasi

After breakfast, you will head to the airport to catch your flight to Varanasi. The ancient city of Varanasi on the banks of the River Ganges is considered the holiest city for Hindu pilgrims. Hindus believe that bathing in the Ganges at Varanasi will remit their sins. It is also considered a holy city for Buddhists, believed to have been designated a pilgrimage site by Gautama Buddha himself. A city of temples, art, literature and education, the atmosphere in Varanasi is completely unique.

On arrival, you will check into your hotel. In the evening, you will take a boat ride on the River Ganges. Here every evening, a prayer ceremony is performed amidst pealing bells and hundreds of pilgrims. The sunset ceremony is truly a sight to behold!

You will then return to your hotel to spend the night

Day 10 Varanasi - Delhi

Early this morning you will leave for a boat ride on the Ganges. This enthralling experience will allow you to witness people offering their prayers, professional washer men doing the laundry as well people waking up to do their daily chores.

You will return to your hotel and have breakfast. Then you will head to Sarnath for an excursion. Sarnath is a holy pilgrimage site for Buddhists. It is the site of the deer park where Gautama Buddha taught his Dharma (faith) and is also an important centre for the arts. You will also visit the Sarnath Museum.

You will have lunch and in the evening you will board your flight to Delhi. On arrival, you will have the opportunity to wash and change before heading to the airport to catch your flight home.

EXTENSION GOA

Day 08 Delhi - Goa

After breakfast, you will head to the airport to catch your flight to Goa. Located on the western coast of India, Goa is the smallest India state. Known for its fantastic beaches and historical churches, Goa still exhibits its history as a Portuguese colony. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel and have some time to relax on the beach. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 09 & 10 Goa

For the next two days you can explore the magnificent beaches of Goa. The many fine sand beaches in Goa have something to offer everyone. Whether it is quiet relaxation, busy flea markets, bars and parties or local cuisine, Goa’s beaches have it all.

Day 11 Goa - Delhi

After breakfast, you will catch an early morning flight to Delhi. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel. Afterwards, you will visit Humayun’s tomb. Commissioned by Humayun’s wife Hamida Banu Begum in 1562, it was the first garden tomb built in the Indian sub-continent. The Persian architect used red sandstone on a large scale and this UNESCO world heritage site represented a huge leap for Mughal architecture.

You will have lunch in the city and have some time to relax. After dinner, you will head to the airport to board your return flight.

EXTENSION SHIMLA

Day 08 Delhi - Shimla

After breakfast at the hotel, you will fly to Shimla, located in the northwest Himalayas. The British, who made Shimla their summer capital, dubbed it ‘Queen of the Hills’.

On arrival, you will check in to you hotel where you will have some time to relax. Your hotel, situated at 8250 feet, will allow you to enjoy beautiful views of the mountains and valleys. You may also enjoy the outdoor Jacuzzi and heated pool. You can take plenty of walks in the trails nearby that allow you to enjoy the fragrant pine forests.

You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 09 Shimla

After breakfast, you explore the hill station of Shimla.

You will visit Christ Church, the second oldest church in the country with beautiful stained glass windows.

Next you will visit the nearby Jakhu Hill. Situated at 8,000 feet, this peak allows beautiful views of the town and the snow-capped Himalayan Mountains. A temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman is located at the top of the hill and is also home to hundreds of monkeys all eager to be fed!

Kufri, located 13 kms away from Shimla has a small Himayalan Zoo as and has a popular ski track.

After lunch, you can take a walk along the Mall Road, which is the main shopping street with plenty of shops, restaurant and bars. People usually take their time strolling down Mall Road, stopping to chat and meet up with their friends.

You will then return to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 10 Shimla - Delhi

After breakfast, you will catch your flight to Delhi. On arrival, your Kamalan representative will meet you at the airport.

You will explore old Delhi. Chandni Chowk is the busiest market in Old Delhi. Noisy, chaotic and uniquely Indian, it is famous for its several restaurants and confectioners. Needless to say, this is a rickshaw ride you will never forget!

Afterwards, you will visit Humayun’s tomb. Commissioned by Humayun’s wife Hamida Banu Begum in 1562, it was the first garden tomb built in the Indian sub-continent. The Persian architect used red sandstone on a large scale and this UNESCO world heritage site represented a huge leap for Mughal architecture.

Later in the evening, you will head to the international airport to catch your return flight.

EXTENSION ANANDA

Day 08 Delhi - Haridwar or Dheradun - Ananda

Today you will either travel by train to Haridwar or by flight to Dehradun to make your way to Ananda in the Himalayas. This beautiful spa hotel is located in the foothills of the Himalayas. Peaceful and tranquil, this is the perfect location to relax, detox and unwind. The spa hotel offers yoga, meditation and ayurvedic remedies for your mind and body.

After checking in, you can spend the rest of your day relaxing at the hotel.

Day 09 and Day 10 Ananda

For the next two days, you can try the various wellness regimes on offer at the hotel. Traditional yoga, and Ayurveda can be combined with the finest international wellness experiences to rejuvenate you mind, body and spirit.

Day 11 Ananda - Haridwar Or Dehradun - Delhi

After breakfast, you will either board the train to Delhi from Haridwar or leave for Dehradun to catch your flight back to Delhi. After checking into your hotel, you will have some free time before you turn in for the night.

Day 12 Delhi

After breakfast, you will visit Humayun’s tomb. Commissioned by Humayun’s wife Hamida Banu Begum in 1562, it was the first garden tomb built in the Indian sub-continent. The Persian architect used red sandstone on a large scale and this UNESCO world heritage site represented a huge leap for Mughal architecture.

Next you will visit to the Qutab Minar. This is the tallest brick minaret in the world, commissioned by Qutbuddin Aibak, the first Muslim ruler of Delhi. His successors continued to enhance the structure, with the final storey added in 1386.

After lunch, you will leave to visit the Lotus Temple. This temple is the mother temple of the Baha’I faith in the Indian subcontinent. Built in 1986, it is open to people from all faiths. The structure looks like a blossoming lotus flower.

Next you will visit the Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, the most prominent Sikh Temple in Delhi. It has a brilliant golden dome that makes the structure instantly recognizable. Built in 1783, the temple attracts millions of visitors annually.

You will then return to your hotel. After dinner, you Kamalan representative will help you board your flight home.

EXTENSION AMRITSAR

Day 08 Delhi - Amritsar

After breakfast, you will head to the station to board your train to Amritsar. On arrival, you will check into your hotel and have lunch before exploring the city. You will start with a visit to the Golden Temple. This is the most significant temple for the Sikh community. The ‘langar’ or community kitchen serves free meals all year round to roughly 40,000 visitors a day. It is truly a remarkable experience to visit this place of worship.

After this, you will visit the Jallianwala Bagh. This small park was the site of a massacre in 1919 spearheaded by a British general. This event caused general unrest and agitations and was one of the precursors to India’s struggle for freedom.

Next you will visit the Durgiana temple. Dedicated to the Goddess Durga, this temple is based on the architecture of the Golden Temple. You will then visit Rambagh, the palace and gardens of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The summer palace has now been converted into a museum holding weapons and portraits.
