Day 01 Cochin
On arrival you will be met by a representative of Kamalan Travels at the airport who will accompany you to the hotel and will assist with check-in formalities. You will receive a traditional Indian welcome with garlands and enjoy a bottle of Indian wine before you turn in for the night.
Day 02 Cochin
After breakfast, you will explore the city of Cochin. You will visit Fort Cochin with its wealth of colonial architecture. The you will see the extraordinary Chinese fishing nets that are a sight to behold. These unusual, elegantly balanced, shore operated fishnets are 10m high and rumored to be of Chinese origin, possibly introduced by Zhang He.
The Jewish synagogue in Cochin was built in 1568 and is of great historical importance. No visit to Cochin is complete without viewing its attractive collections. You will also visit the Mattancherry or Dutch Palace. It was constructed by the Portuguese and gifted to the Raja of Kochi in 1555. It was created in the traditional style of architecture with a courtyard in the centre. It houses some of the finest murals of Hindu temple art.
You will have an authentic lunch with a Syrian Christian family and get a taste of the local culture.
In the evening, you will witness a traditional Kathakali dance, which involves the stunning use of masks, and make up. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.
Day 03 Cochin – Periyar ( 210 Kms - 5 Hrs )
After breakfast, you will leave for Periyar. You will check in to your hotel and have lunch. You will have the evening to relax and enjoy an Ayurvedic massage. You will have dinner and spend the night at your hotel.
Day 04 Periyar
After breakfast, you will visit the Periyar wildlife sanctuary and explore the flora and fauna of the region. You will return to your hotel for lunch.
Afterwards, you will visit the spice plantation at Periyar. The plantations are captivating, with each section cultivating different spices. You will also have the opportunity to witness Kalaripayttu, which is perhaps one of the oldest forms of martial arts in existence and includes grappling, wrestling, kicks and weaponry.
You will return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.
Day 05 Periyar – House Boat ( 160 Kms - 4 Hrs )
After breakfast, you will leave for Alleppey to board your house boar. You will enjoy a cruise on the back waters and have your meals and spend the night on board.
Day 06 House Boat - Komarakom
You will have breakfast on board your house boat. You will disembark at Kumarakom and check in to your hotel. You will have the morning to enjoy an Ayurvedic massage. After lunch at the hotel you will have the opportunity to enjoy and exclusive sunset cruise. You will then have dinner and spend the night at your hotel.
Day 07 Komarakom
After breakfast, you will visit some of the old churches dating back to the 1500’s in Kottayam. You will also get a chance to explore the local market. You will return to your hotel for lunch. You will then have the evening free to relax, before having dinner and turning in for the night.
Day 08 Komarakom – Varkala ( 110 Kms - 3 Hrs )
This morning you will have breakfast and head for Varkala. En route you will visit Krishanpuram Palace, a fine example of Kerala architecture. On arrival, you will check in and have lunch. You will have the evening at leisure before turning in for the night.
Day 09 Varkala
After breakfast, you will visit the nearby temples, which date back hundreds of years. You will return to your hotel for lunch and have the evening to relax. You will have dinner and spend the night here.
Day 10 Varkala – Trivandrum ( 50 Kms - 1 Hrs 30 )
This morning, you will have breakfast and leave for Trivandrum to catch your return flight.
EXTENSION KOVALAM
Day 10 Varkala – Kovalam ( 140 Kms - 3 Hrs )
After breakfast, you will leave fro Kanyakumari. You will visit visit the Padmanathapuram Palace. Built in 1601, this is beautiful example of traditional Kerala architecture with delicate wooden latticework.
Once at Cape Comorin, you can enjoy at boat ride and visit two rocky islets off the shore. These are famous as an area for meditation where Swami Vivekananda (a noted Hindu saint) is said to have sat in deep meditation. Afterwards, you will return to Kovalam and check in to your hotel. You will have dinner and spend the night here.
Day 11 Kovalam
This morning you will have breakfast and spend the day relaxing at the beach. You spend the night at your hotel.
Day 12 Kovalam – Trivandrum
After breakfast, you will head to Trivandrum to catch your return flight.
