Day 01 Cochin
On arrival you will be met by a representative of Kamalan Travels at the airport who will accompany you to the hotel and will assist with check-in formalities. After lunch, you will visit the city of Cochin.
You will visit Fort Cochin with its wealth of colonial architecture. Then you will see the extraordinary Chinese fishing nets that are a sight to behold. These unusual, elegantly balanced, shore operated fishnets are 10m high and rumored to be of Chinese origin, possibly introduced by Zhang He.
The Jewish synagogue in Cochin was built in 1568 and is of great historical importance. No visit to Cochin is complete without viewing its attractive collections. You will also visit the Mattancherry or Dutch Palace. It was constructed by the Portuguese and gifted to the Raja of Kochi in 1555. It was created in the traditional style of architecture with a courtyard in the centre. It houses some of the finest murals of Hindu temple art.
Day 02 Cochin - Kollengode ( 150 Kms - 3 Hrs 30 )
This morning, you will leave for Kalari Kovalam, a beautiful retreat for Ayurvedic healing. Located in Kollengode, this retreat offers palatial suites set in traditional Kerala architecture.
Day 03 till Day 9 Kollengode
For the next week you will enjoy the traditional ayurvedic therapies, massages, baths and treatments on offer, under the guidance of experienced Ayurvedic doctors. The food served during your stay is prepared in an Ayurvedic kitchen, with fresh herbs, in accordance with your therapies. You will also enjoy yoga and may watch and participate in Kalaripayattu, one the oldest martial arts traditions in the world.
Day 10 Kollengode – Kumarakom ( 210 Kms - 4 Hrs 30 )
After breakfast, you will leave for Kumarakom. This is an idyllic set of islands Vembanad Lake in Kerala. On arrival, you will check into the resort and enjoy the lush and tranquil backwaters of Kerala. You will spend the night at your hotel.
Day 11 Kumarakom
After breakfast, you will head for a half-day cruise on the backwaters. You will have lunch on board as you meander through the water flanked by palm trees. You will return to your hotel to spend the night.
Day 12 Kumarakom - Cochin ( 60 Kms - 1 Hrs )
After lunch, you will leave for Cochin. In the evening, you will witness a Kathakali dance performance, which involves the stunning use of masks, and make up. You will have opportunity to wash and change before heading to the airport. Your Kamalan representative will assist you in boarding your flight home.
EXTENSION LAKSHWADEEP
Day 12 Kumarakom- Cochin/Agatti ~ Bangaram
After breakfast, you will head to the Cochin airport for a connecting flight to Agatti. Here, a representative from the Bangaram Island will help you board your motorboat that will take you to the island. Between July and September, you can reach the island by helicopter as well.
Day 13 & 14 Bangaram Island
You can spend the next few days exploring the magnificent Bangaram Island, which has pristine silver sand beaches, breathtaking blue lagoons, coral reefs, and coconut palms. You can also engage in a variety of water sports such as snorkeling and scuba diving. Bangaram Island is also an ideal place to enjoy deep-sea fishing
Day 15 Bangaram ~ Agatti - Cochin
TAfter breakfast you will head to Agatti by boat to catch a flight to Cochin. On arrival, you will have the opportunity to wash and change before heading to the airport to board your flight home.
EXTENTION MUNNAR & PERIYAR
Day 12 Cochin - Munnar ( 140 Kms - 4 Hrs )
This morning, after breakfast, you will drive through the beautiful landscapes towards Munnar. En route, you will visit the tea gardens near by. ,/p>
On arrival, you will check in to the hotel. After lunch you will visit the tea museum. Tea lovers will be particularly fascinated by the various stages of tea processing. You will also visit the local markets. You will return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.
Day 13 Munnar - Periyar ( 110 Kms - 2 Hrs 30 )
After breakfast, you will head to Periyar. The region of Periyar is synonymous with natural beauty and is home to a tiger reserve, abundant wildlife and forests.
En route, you will visit the renowned tea gardens and spice plantations nearby. On arrival, you will check in and have lunch. You have the afternoon free to relax, enjoy an ayurvedic massage or witness Kalaripayttu in a local theatre. Kalaripayttu is perhaps one of the oldest forms of martial arts in existence and includes grappling, wrestling, kicks and weaponry.
You will return to your hotel to have dinner and spend the night.
Day 14 Periyar – Cochin ( 202 Kms - 5 Hrs )
After breakfast, you will head to Cochin. On arrival, you will check in to your hotel. After lunch, you will have spend some time shopping in the markets of Cochin and perhaps pick up some souvenirs of your holiday. After dinner, you Kamalan representative will accompany you to the airport and help you board your flight home.
